More Noob Questions, Gate tolls and training

Some more noob questions:

(1) I was surprised to see $800 in gate tolls on my gang's ledger, since I've never traveled from Somerset to any other town. Do you get hit with the gate tolls for scouting missions too?

(2) The training center: When I look at my character's profile, it says that I can change their training, but it doesn't confirm for me that a character is currently undergoing training - not like with the hospital, where the character sheet clearly says "character is in hospital." How do I know that a character is currently using the training facility? If I click on the "Training facility" icon, and go to that webpage, I see some characters have a "+" next to their name... does that mean they're using the training facility? Except - some of my gangers who are in the hospital also have the "+" next to their name on the training facility's webpage. Does that mean they're in the hospital and undergoing training at the same time?

(3) If I change a ganger's training, do I incur the $100 charge every time I change their training preference? Or is it just rolled up into a weekly "membership dues" for the gym.

1 - yes

2 - the + shows you have assigned them training at the centre, you need to do this for all your gangers from the gang page > characters > select character > training camp > choose skill > choose yes for training > confirm training.

3 - weekly figure

Great, thanks. Good info. I have another question that I hope is not too obvious.

In arena combats, how do you check to see if an npc vehicle has resigned? Sometimes there is so much damage-spam that I don't see the initial notice that a vehicle has resigned, and I keep pumping shots in to it until I realize I'm no longer getting points.

I've tried hovering over vehicles and "inspect" ing them, but there doesn't seem to be a flag saying "this vehicle has resigned." Frequently I'll have to watch and see if a vehicle moves during the "action" phase to determine if it's resigned or not.

Is there a better way that I'm missing?

f2 and f3 during game turns on info over vehicles, you can cycle through different combos

F2 - cycles the upper label text -

For wilderness encounters: <Empty>, Gang Name, Driver Name, Vehicle Name, Speed, Surrender Status, Distance to Enemy

For racing events: <Empty>, Gang Name, Driver Name, Vehicle Name, Speed, Current Lap, Position

F3 - cycles the lower label text - (same as F2)

Since we're talking about keyboard shortcuts, here's a few more that are useful:

F9 - toggles the Players menu between the player name and the gang name

CTRL-G - toggles Ghost cars for all vehicles on the field. The Ghost assumes that they will keep the same target speed and turning arc as the previous turn, so the cars will not necessarily end up in exactly the same location and position.

On the occasions I actually play, I find that sometimes 2 labels isn't enough. Would it be a good idea to add a 3rd line above the cars, cyclable in the same way using f4?

Personally I think this would just clutter up the screen. It is easy enough to cycle through the various options. Of course if you did add it, I could just make it blank.

Wow .. didn't know about F9. Could be useful.

But also have to agree with about the F4. A little too much data, when it takes just a little extra time to toggle F2 & F3

I find myself agreeing with Marc5iver on this one too Sam..... ;)

It might be too much clutter, but then you could always NOT use the F4! :cyclops:
As long as one of the spaces were left blank when scrolling through them.

The one thing I always want to know in any event is which vehicles are active/confident, and which are resigned/demoralised. If that could be added in some way which doesn't clutter up the screen it would be nice.

While we're making a wish list, it would be nice if the game saved my f2/f3 preferences per event type. I almost always want the same settings in every race and every deathrace, but the desthrace settings are different to the race ones. If we could have different settings for scout and travel too that would be even better.

I think adding F4 is a good idea, just have it blank by default.

Confident/Demoralized is one of the current options with F2/F3

Marc5iver is right,
one of the options with the f2/f3 is that all cars show the demoralized/confident options.

Just keep pressing the key to scroll the options.

I do like Serephe's idea of the third line (F4) being blank by default. I would like to have speed, confident/demo, and gang info up on the screen for big scouts so I know who to address because I can't remember who's car it is.

Yes, I know :p. I was just saying that the confident/active setting is he one I use in all circumstances (is that the same for everyone?), so if that was indicated with an icon or a colour change or something (make the colours darker maybe?) I'd be quite happy with two lines of text.

Be useful even with the extra text < optional >, a nice shade of cowardly white fr those resigned / demoed cars

That F2 / F3 thing is awesome! I've almost missed a few turns, I've been so fascinated flipping through the F2/F3 settings lately. Thanks.

Another cool feature of DW. :D
