Darkwind
"Twas the night Before Christmas.

‘Twas the night before Christmas and throughout Somerset,
the races were starting with people placing their bets.
The crew chiefs went over the cars with great care,
looking for damage that might need repair.

The crowd started filling up the spectator stands,
with moonshine and beer cups filling their hands.
With big wide grins plastered on their faces,
the crowd started chanting for the start to the races.

When out on the track their rose such a ruckus,
we thought the damned pirates had shown up to f@@k us.
Weapons were drawn and rounds they were chambered,
when a new voice then loudly disclaimerd.

Whoah there my friends don’t shoot without cause,
It’s an unscheduled visit from dear Santa Claus.
His landing was rough but that’s not what mattered,
the sleigh he was driving it was damaged and shattered.

Santa jumped out and tripped on a tire,
Parts of his beard had just been on fire.
The crew chiefs they muttered and gathered their tools
They would fix all this damage or look just like fools.

Santa calmed down after being handed a drink,
He gave the drink giver a sly little wink.
Then he lifted the cup and took a great swallow,
There were giggles and grins at the choking that followed.

Santa caught his breath and said with a grin,
Man that stuffs good so hit me again.
The cup was refilled and Santa then chugged,
He didn’t choke then but man his eyes bugged.

He turned to his sleigh and said with a sigh,
Damn those evil pirates I wish they would die.
He moved in closer to see what the crew chiefs had done,
They had patched up his sleigh and mounted some guns.

His reindeer were covered in thin sheets of plate,
Now they were protected he thought this was great.
He reached in his ride and pulled out his toy sack,
It was dirty and smoldered and in places burned black.

Santa turned to the people that had started to crowd,
send your kids to me he said clear and loud.
The kids they lined up and stood in sheer joy,
For Santa had brought them each a great toy.

There were popguns and tool sets and dollies that smiled,
He’d brought something for each little dear child.
The presents were received with much great delight
The glow from their smiles did light up the night.

After the kids gifts were given he turned to the adults,
And they were given gifts with the same happy results.
The bag was still full when Santa turned away
He explained to the crowd that he was not finished this day.

He had places to visit and he now stood a chance,
To get by the pirates and visit the mutants.
Some people they grumbled and cursed about that,
Santa turned and looked saddened as he took off his hat.

But mutants are people he kindly explained,
It wasn’t their fault that they had been changed.
By the same cursed problems they all had to endure,
Was it their fault that there was no cure.

Each child is precious Santa said as he stood,
And each child should be given a chance to be good.
For it’s all of our children that will inherit tomorrow,
It is them that will love, laugh and often feel sorrow.

So off I will go and return here next year,
And meet all the children that we hold dear.
So my dear people have your race and car fight
And to all of our children Merry Christmas and Goodnight.

Maxine "Bear Hands" Rands was no longer living in the Canadian Mount. Things had settled up about mutants enough for her to walk around town with a small risk of violence.
Holding her new crossbow, which she could reload in about a second, she smiled as Santa flew away.
"It's beautiful."

Jamal "Slumdog" Wright turned to Mary "Big Guns" Sanders with a look of confusion on his face. Whilst his present was a joy to behold and promised a lot of fun, he didn't quite know what it was.

"Mary, do you know what 'scaletrix' means?"
