Darkwind
Switching over to a new comp and client won't load

Every time I start the client it updates java client, and I have updated Java after I first saw this. When I go to login, it shows the Dark Wind square with the Pho on background, fades to black, and basically absorbs the client.

Never get the actual game to load up at all, and it retains running as a process when I hit ctrl+alt+delete.

I have already updated the graphics drivers as well.

Running Windows XP

Quoting this so you know I didn't ignore it. :)

I think every time this issue has come up it has been caused by graphics drivers.

Yeah it was the first thing I tried when I had the problem. After that I updated Java to see if that was it and got nothing.

This is the exact same problem I have with my computer on this game.

Gonna be working on over the next day or two, if I find a way to fix it I'll let ya know.

Well, just rechecked to see that I most current version of Java, and did a complete re-install of game. Still no change. Client never loads, just shows the process as running.

What happens if you try to run darkwindClient.exe directly, rather than via the java/patcher "lobby" program?

Looks like it gives the Dos Box and stays blank black. Normally that should fill with info and then load the client.

Sounds like graphics drivers. Cough.

Can you find anything about OpenGL mentioned in the console.log file after it fails?

I get no info at all really. Got the updated drivers for the Geforce 6 series already. Its an old 6200. But runs fine on my friends comp which is an onboard 6150 LE.

Will try doing the drivers again and letting it restart and see if it helps.

Oh, yeah looked into it and it has a lot of not found for anything representing a graphics card in anyway. Has like pages of this shouldn't happen lol.

Edit: Pretty sure it is probobly going to be an OpenGL issue. Not sure yet what I need to do to fix it properly though.

So, anyone know yet a way to fix this more then likely opengl issue? Am I going to need some older driver version? I heard something about a d3d method of playing as well somewhere.

Well I tried an old forceware driver 78.05 I believe, and OpenGL works again, can load up the game and play just fine again. If this older driver gives me problems later on I will try seeing if I can get the d3d switch from within the game to work and see if it will then let me use the current driver and play.
