Scouting from camp?

So, I was wondering if you could do scouts from camps, and if so, what are the pirates based on? The nearest town?

You can do scouts from camps.

The piracy level of a camp is based on the nearest town, but doesn't mirror it, as I understand it.

Currently when scouting from out of a camp you can choose to go after weaker pirates, or weaker traders, are not yet able to target specific gangs/factions. Hopefully this will soon change once the work on factions gets a little more sorted out and has some more time in testing.

Other then that it is the same as anywhere else, choose the direction to any camp or town with a road linking to the camp you are scouting out of. Just try to make sure you siphon fuel out of loot cars when you are in the loot screen by right clicking your cars, will save you a lot of fuel cans.

Keep in mind however, that any loot cars you bring back to camp, will add the the camps total CR, and if you go over this number random cars will start taking damage from being left out in the radioactive rain.

Also, if you wish to sell these cars you need to bring them back to town. So you would more then likely need a Fuel Car with a big enough tank to handle getting however many cars you have looted back to town.

If your loot cars have damaged engines, or breached sides, they will be easily destroyed if you get a travel encounter on the way back to town as well.

These are all things to keep in mind if you decide to scout out of camps. However as long as the Mech time is good, you can patch some holes, and swap in decent engines using a Box Van/Carrier Van to haul them.

Then when you get back to town, swap out the good engines for the junked ones, then sell the chassis and keep the good engines for your next trip.

I was planning on swapping engines and keeping some weapons to send back to town for selling and donating the chassis to the camp or something like that. :P

Repairing at camp, since I'm not a full member will this time be reduced? I do have a mechanic.

What camp are you trying to do this from? If they need a mech then a mech is always invaluable to be added on. As for repairs, as long as the mech time is available then it is usually fine to get repairs done. Especially if you donate back a few car parts or bits of scrap. And if your planning to scrap the chassis anyway, should have that quite covered.

The Farms is the camp. I've donated a few car parts and some mech units. Not a lot mind you, but more than nuttin. lol.

I also have no idea how repairing works while your there. I have a guy with the squad that is learning mech (a whopping 39... lol). I guess I just don't really know how it works and if scouting from camp would be detrimental to the camp - like slowing down production or whatever with repairs.

That is one of JimmyLogan's camp's, it and Fort New. Send him a message if he hasn't seen your interest. He might have more use for you mech there, or perhaps in Fort New. Both are close to SS though. And he tends to have extra loot cars about that he lets people take to town for him for a percentage.

I just bumped you to full member so you can repair.

I scout regularly from Fort New, but not from The Farms, so feel free!

Mech time is limited by the MR of the camp, but it has NOTHING to do with actual production.

Lockup space is limited, so keep an eye on that... I haul away food/water every few days, but it can still be tight.

Whoohoo! Thanks. That'll do wonders. I'm still learning all this stuff, but I sure am digging it. :D
