In a post apocalyptic environment you really shouldnt know at all when its gonna be done, we should really get no more information than "leave it here and i'll have a look at it when there's time". System is fine as it is though, now it's more like our somewhat mechy ganger has something of an idea how badly something is damaged and a rough idea of how long it usually takes, then when he leaves it to the mechanic shop in town he gets a time from the town mechanic when he can come and pick it up again.
