Big Daddy Posted Dec 20, 2009, 12:41 am	For those of you with not-so-precious crew stuck in FL and a healthy bank account, metro gave me a tip that worked very well. Build a Flash with a 3.2 (exposed) engine, A armor, and reinforced tires and it's an easy escape from most any encounter for two crew. And the other times, it was still an escape for me, just not so easy. I even made it once with a 2L engine - that was just an accident when I placed my order. I did this 5 or 6 times, only once had a decent scout. I did have some flash driving experience, in arena races as well as wilderness scouts, that was some help, too. Also, if anyone needs a flash in BL, look me up.

Piracy is so low (and my scout skill so high) the squad was taken directly to Gates of Badlands after I clicked the Travel button--there was no encounter upon clicking Process Arrival.

They also handle corners terribly if you overdo the steering, so beware!
simonmaxhill Posted Dec 20, 2009, 8:29 pm	I can also recommend the Flash, but I'd suggest that instead of using the incredible speed of that little beast, you immediately get off road and onto high ground. It'll shake most NPC designs and allow you to control tyre damage a bit better.

metrocube Posted Apr 6, 2010, 12:10 am	Okay. Here's what happened. 1. My 356 scout level 7 negotiator was unable to truce the first encounter that psygo and I had. That in itself was very strange, and it may had something to do with there being 12 players and 23 gangmembers represented in the event. In any case, it became quickly obvious that the bus was not going to outrun them, and that my boxvan gunners could not engage 3 vehicles at once. So, psygo and I both surrendered our vehicles rather than risk injury to the passengers. 2. At that point, the squad turned into a footsquad with Badlands as our destination. Thinking that I could take control of everyones' gangmembers (as is the case that in a scout you can take over a missing player's or players' vehicle) I started the foot squad encounter. It started out with all 23 of us in ordered ranks, but I was only able to take control of my own gangmembers. "Fine" I told myself, "I'll use my armed gangmembers and move to the perimeter of these passengers who will just stand here idly as there is no one to control them." But as soon as the Turns started, all the gangmembers that were not under direct control of Rezeak, Psygo, or myself started running around at random. It was utter chaos. I had only a clear shot at one insect. My aim to the other insect was blocked by a pandemonium of autonomous-yet-friendly gangmembers. By the time I was able to get Lonnie a clear shot to the insect, the insect had eaten 2 of the passengers. I petitioned *sam* to restore the life of those 2 passengers, and seeing as how we've all been somehow magically transported to Badlands about 16 hours before schedule, I think *sam* has in fact reviewed the event and restored those passengers to life. So, everyone should now be in Badlands. On behalf of the Party bus express, welcome to Badlands. We know you have a choice in Darkwinds travel, and we thank you for choosing Party Bus express.

I love this game, even when it kicks me in the ass. :-)  Just for the record, I lost both a 5Lv12 and a 5Lv8 engine during the party bus run.

They are sporting large tanks, minimal armor, and no weapons so they shouldn't pose much of an additional CR. And I'm not packing any bounties or negative rep through that region, in case that was part of the previous problem. Let me know if/when you plan to move up from BL towards SS if it's still cool to ride along in your squad.

I have now (finally) written this functionality and it will be added at the next patch. It was quite niggly to implement which is why I had avoided doing so before.. even though it was needed. (The two passengers who were killed have been ressurrected, BTW)

metrocube Posted Aug 1, 2010, 7:34 am	I would actually like to request folks please add a maximum of 3 gang members to the boxvan in the FL Express squad unless 12 hours have passed since you put your first passengers in. On my last trip, a gentlemen added 6. This prevented other players from also getting their folks back to civilization. It seems we'll be crowded, so I will open up a 2nd squad for passengers (BL Express). I'll post details here when they arrive in FL.

Driving fast on curves has a mental and physical toll, and I just had trouble concentrating.  This being my first time, I was unaccustomed to processing so much in the split second you get at high speeds. 2nd day was much better. By the third session, my instructor told me I did really well, and that I could be proud of that session.  Fourth session after that, I put it into the grass after the back straight at about 100mph. :-)  no damage, just ego bruised. I'm assuming it's "whatever doesn't hurt too much," so I donated 10k (per ganger.) Hope that's cool. Seems reasonable from both sides, and it's a whole lot cheaper than building a car that gets shot out from under you at the gates of FL. (And yeah, that happened to me once. It takes a squad about 34 hours to go one-way between Firelight and Badlands.  In essence, it takes a squad about three days to make the round-trip journey.

Between 150-200 round trip journeys so far. It used to be just one box van making 2 round-trip BL-FL runs a week, but a few months ago I changed it to two lorry squads making 4 round-trip BL-FL runs each week.

metrocube Posted Dec 6, 2010, 9:37 pm	Gimme a couple days to put my squads back in order. I'll announce the next bus soon! Had a long racing weekend and was way from computer. Friday night before I left, I foolishly took out my own scout car with a glancing blow from the ram at the front of my lorry, knocking out its driver. I couldn't get the lorry far enough away from the disabled car to escape the lorry from the event. The pirates got to shooting the disabled car quite a bit, and as the driver o that car was also our 350 scout that makes bus transit possible, I surrendered the squad to save his life. I can put another lorry quicker than I can train another 350 scout.

I lost the other lorry a few days ago trying to make a Sarsfield run that I don't do very often. I had to surrender it after an HMG shot from the rear that hit it while turning unsettled it and laid it on its side. Very sad, but it happens. Anyway. there won't be another FL-BL squad back in Firelight until next week, perhaps Saturday, because I have to send it to Somerset to deliver parts to recreate that second FL-BL squad. :-)

I would prefer people filling Bus 2 and Bus 3 first. pw for the squad is 1234, and the scout leading the squad is a NEG6. This is a one time deal since I'm just running these three chassis out of FL to BL. We will be leaving around 16:00 to 19:00 on 03-20. As always, you travel at your own risk.

I think this is because earlier, I loaded James Morrisson... then changed my mind, left the Squad, rejoined the Squad, and tried to put Kayla in his place. How do I get Kayla in there?  Or do I have to put James in now? EDIT: Yeah, that's odd.  It lets me put James back in, but it doesn't let me put Kayla in. Oh well, screw it, James goes home and Kayla waits.

I have 4 gangers in limbo at the moment (including my gang leader), but I'm only on around 8pm-11p.m CST (about 2 am to 4 am server time) for the most part. I'll keep my eyes out.

metrocube Posted Dec 7, 2011, 10:41 pm	BL only. Once every three months, I'll do a couple weeks of SS->GW and GW-BL to get food transferred from SS to the southern towns. But it's too hard to get players to coordinate with those very fast launches. Your best bet is to ask in game chat if someone can get a couple of your guys to GW from BL. And then ask later if someone can take you from GW to SS.

New player question: is there any way to get a vehicle, or even just its engine/weapons, out with me? I wound up with a killer bee in FL, and while the chassis is not so hot, the weapons & engine in it are tempting, as I'm still at the point where I'll take any undamaged gear I can get my hands on. Or if that's just not worth bothering with, I'll just sell it. Thanks!

My interface was running crazy and the server was up and down like crazy, screwing with the timeouts and scrambling my efforts to target the bugs. Your ganger was chewed to death by bugs though. I checked the recording and the RPG round fired near the bug only hit the bug. The recording ended prematurely as well. I'd talk to Sam about a refund, we were reamed ;(

I won a 4L Pho from the Amateur Nights event in FL and was able to get it out to BL Truckstop. If you end up doing your own ferry, make sure you buy reinforced tyres! I lost two of four tires right as I escaped and it delayed their transit time to BL by many hours (Or does it usually take 48 hours transit time?).
