'Are we ready?' Ashlee asked over the radio.

'Most definitely, everything we need and can possibly carry is loaded, everything we couldn't take with us has been damaged beyond repair' came the reply.

'Good...' Ashlee paused to look down at the flash message she had received from The Vault some weeks ago. Four simple words the Dwellers had been waiting for ever since their inception over a decade ago - 'Now is the time'.

Again she felt a fresh surge of fear and excitement, she knew others had set off for the south before, but nobody had ever heard from them again. Now it was their turn, many had fallen along the way - to get to this point, here and now. She wondered what they would find, death was a certainty, but then it was wherever you were. The plans for creating a workers Utopia were probably far fetched, but there was value in the trying.

She looked along the lines of the cars from the Osprey scout cars through the cargo haulers to the Buzzers and Fire Engines. Time to head for the source, time to head to the South.

Looking around the Truck Stop one last time, Ashlee allowed herself a moments quiet thought of the people they would be leaving behind. 'Ok Dwellers, Now is the time' she hooked her radio back on her belt and pulled herself in to the back of Hood and listened as the dawn broke to a chorus of multiple engines starting.

The Dwellers left in a massive plume of sand, heading south looking for their destiny...

Johnny stands at the gates of the Vault and watches The Dwellers leave. He stands there long after they have crested a rise and disappeared from sight. He stands there long after the dust of their passing has settled. Finally he turns back and walks slowly inside, a new weight seems to settle on his shoulders.

"The very best of luck to them." he says in a low voice.

"Boss! Boss! What should we do with this ammo?" cries a voice.

Johnny sighs.

"OK - over here I think..." he says.

Morris Johnson listened to the rumors of the Vault Dweller's departure at the Grainne Uaile. Conspiracy theories were flying, ranging from a shakeup of the Vault's leadership from the recent camp war to the Vault Dwellers receiving a signal of some kind from a yet unknown location in the Wastes far to the South. Morris was particularly proud of himself for starting the latter, which he hoped was true since otherwise the VD's had just committed suicide.

But his final masterpiece of misinformation was next. He'd waited days, till the rumormongering just started to die down. After a night of drinking and debauchery Morris feigned inebriation and whispered to the whore in bed next to him: "You think the Vault Dwellers and Hades, Chronos, and Erebus just disappeared. Ha, that's exactly what they want people to think. But they're planning something, they found this cache of old weapons far to the South. They're fixing them up and getting ready to return, to burn this place to the ground. Mark my words, in a year or two this place will be history."

Morris smiled a shark tooth grin after the whore left. The best lies always had a kernel of truth, after all...
