HELP!
I have Vista (death to Microsoft!) I have latest Java runtimes. I have turned off the firewall. I start the darkwind lobby.jar file and get a login screen, it goes through the updating portion (The first tme did quite a bit of downloading) I login just fine (To my perspective) I get the splash screen saying client is loading . . . . . . . . . then nothing, no other screen like when I loaded game in XP, which worked flawlessly first time for me. What am I doing wrong? I am very unfamiliar with the vista thing, is there some sort of admin privledge I have to set in java or darkwind? Any help to get me in game is appreciated, I am stumped right now. (and I consider myself computer savvy btw, just not on this abomination of vista, KNEW I should have stuck with XP!!) |

I have also downloaded the zipped client and unzipped to its own folder. That is not the issue. |

It's very likely some kind of security problem. For some reason, Vista isn't giving you write privileges in the darkwind folder, I think. |

The security on the created C:\Program files\Darkwind\ folder I created then unzipped the files into. Please let others be aware of this potential issue. |

Did you get it working?
I had a lot of trouble with anything in /Program Files/ when testing on Vista. It appears that it doesn't let you change access privileges on anything in /Program Files/ - it even pretended it was letting me (and went through the 'updating files properties' animation) but then actually hadn't changed anything. |

It did work, you have to edit the permissions for the (one) user and allow full control, it took it and I am now in ![]() |

Can you please tell me how to edit the permissions in Vista as you did? I only know how to click administrator under user accounts. thanks |
