I was out at the coffee shop tonight, made my way back home after a while; I got out of the underground to the sound of VERY loud music coming from somewhere near my apartment. I wasn't very happy about this and silently cursed the inconsiderate jerk as I walked towards home. The music was getting louder and louder as I got closer, which didn't bode well...
Until I heard cheers and applause. I realized Foster the People (famous for their song Pumped Up Kicks) was playing an outdoor concert along a canal not two streets from my apartment! I ran towards the music and walked through a crowd watching the show from a small bridge. I figured I could get closer so I made my way along the gated area around the concert grounds. I climbed up on the railing along the canal and leaned against a lamp post in a spot where I got a good view - and a much better one than I would have from the crowded bridge. I was rocking out to the music with a big smile on my face when a lady who was walking along the canal stopped beside me. Thinking she wanted directions I climbed down from the railing to see what she needed. She opened her purse and took out an unused ticket that she handed to me! I got to see them live in the middle of a crazy crowd! Awesome night, awesome show! Thank you, unknown lady!! |
