rebirth or rebored? Sure looks neat.

x rebirth trading

says something here about intercepting traders, lots of trade micromanagement and interaction that efect global (universal?) economy.

Ive not played its predecessors but have played Space Force (which looks like a cheap knockoff from JoWood Games).

It seems that most games with developer videos where thwy have eastern european accents seem to flop. Last game I saw like this was very pretty until I listened to the "plug" video and noticed the developers couldnt even pronounce their own game's title.

"Mah Zwallag" they called it.

Its name was "Mars: War Log"

In most of the video they described it in broken mispronounced english and its main plot was always prefaced by them saying "here ypu are confused. You are wandering around and dont know what you are doing..."

I was like "nope!"

Germans = Eastern Europeans!?

Mother of ignorance!!!

I am going to lock myself in my room and play this game, I've been looking forward to it for a VERY long time. I've been a long time fan of the X series.

Which Type of Germans?  EAST Germans?

lol.  J/K

The "Mah Zwallog" Game was made in Rumania I think though...  or Romania.  Whichever it is.

I mean X rebirth is made by germans... They have a pretty distinctive accent tbh

yeah Im real keen to check this out. I don't even notice the accent :D 3 weeks and my course is done and then I have time to play this massive event.

It mentions that they have refined the flight controls to make it less complex. Did the previous games support Joysticks with yaw control? I'm really hoping I can play this with a stick.

I have played X3 and it's sequels

The vast amount of customization plus mods (Holy cow tons of them!)

Made that game a serious treat!

Based on the video and screenies I saw for X4, I gotta try it.

How much time I can invest.. different matter completely.

Not talking about online, just a simple 4-6 player at a time multi-player mode.

Tried X3, but it was a major flop cause they started development during windows 95 and by the time it came out it would not run on the then modern windows (98SE or ME can't remember which). Back in the day though, I was hooked on playing Elite for months straight. I just threw the kid in his playpen and locked the door so I wouldn't hear him screaming (Thank satan he wasn't my child)

Grimm,

I believe you are thinking the original "X:Beyond the Frontier" game.

X2 was released in Feb '04

X3 was released in Nov November 4, 2005

Neither of which WIN95/98 could have even come close to supporting.

To reiterate, X3 (Terran Conflict and Albion Prelude as well) were beautiful, awesome, and deep games.

Like a BSG Christmas with a Gazillion toys to play with... and a mammoth sandbox to with them in.

Honestly, if you keep comparing Star Citizen and the X series games I'm personally going to butcher your entire gang in DW, that goes for everyone.

Just joking about the kid, I only locked him up after 10 PM

It's one of those times....

Firefly and I are in full agreement.

X Series ROCKS, and certainly not to be confused with (All of them) lesser space sims.....

Did we mention there is combat...

And a ALOT of it (If you want that is, your choice.. you make your own way of playing - Personally I like seeing the big BOOM)

Nifty Combat Trailer....

Bugs everywhere!

I was hoping this game would be a bit better off but looks like it's standard X fare, they're awesome games but... yeah, they normally take a while to get there.

reading through their complaints list, it would appear that instead of making he interface easier to use they have done the opposite, while removing many features at the same time.

I couldn't agree more with the complaints about the similarity of the internals of the mega structures and the simple chests collect stuff mechanics. Hunting for missions is a chore, which it should be, but theres no depth to the outcomes as far as I have seen.

So far the game has been very easy with little depth, or at least until I needed to board a prison ship. Im surrounded by 20 drones and 3 other large freighters all shooting me and it wants me to use my trojan drone. what, really?! And get blown to bits in 3 seconds. If I shoot the attacking drones it sends the cops on me and more stuff turns up to shoot me. Is this the best time to use a tojan? Maybe I should shoot more attackers until the odds really stack up. Earlier when using he drone to hack stuff, I parked inside one of the structures to keep me safe from attackers while I spent 30 minutes flying around in the drone, but I can't do that here and I doubt the little drone will last long with the 400 guns shooting it.

I dunno, this is crazy game.

Im hoping for some big improvements.

Im really keen to play X3 now, but I think I'd miss the huge structures.

EGAD this game... but then I remembered something

X3 T Terran Conflict when launched and say 6 months to a year later from updates

Almost Windy Cold blustery Night (bad) to Brilliant Sunshine day @ the beach (good) difference.

This one is gonna take some time polish... pisses me off, because I bought it outright vs... *ahem* other possible ways to get it.

But I will stick by it... worked some workarounds for bugs on my own, especially using a gamepad... Almost X3 Flyable.

Underneath the dirt and ugly... there truely is a diamond.... just needs some serious polishing right now.

If you need programing experience to make it playable in its current state, thats not too good. I'm worried to continue, Im aching to continue, but I just can't trust that I have not triggered some bug.

This...

in the patch thread the following people said:

I have had a really difficult time trying to play X Rebirth so far. I have been looking forward to a reinvention of the increasingly stale X games for years so much and I just cant seem to get anywhere.

At first I started the plot, but all it seemed to do was take my money, make me enemies, get rid of my ships and then want me to use the ships I couldnt use anymore to deliver food. At that point I had only my own ship left and no way to make money.

I have restarted in free play mode and explored what I assume to be the whole galaxy, I got to a place with lots of Xenon, but found no decent opponents and very little ways to make money. I figured out the old X games with no issues, but here I am unable to get anywhere.

- Missions do not seem to pay any reasonable amount - 20k for killing a few fighters, 50k for me to destroy a whole capital ship. It was stated in a video that scanning is supposed to scale its rewards with progrss, but missions do not seem to? I have experimented with doing many missions, upgrading my ship, improving rep to different stages, and trying different systems, but none of it makes a difference. Are they a waste of time?

- I cannot find any ships to buy smaller than 5m cost - I can capture smaller ones but not find anywhere to buy them. I flew through 3 systems and kept finding shipyards that indicated they sold smaller ships, but was unable to find any. There is no ramp of progression, only a cliff I cannot find an engaging way to scale. Did I miss something?

- My trade offers that can be "collected" as stated in a trailer vanish as soon as I leave the area. Even if I had a trade ship, I have to find all the offers manually. I have seen it stated by devs on here repeatedly that with multiple trade ships you dont have to wait for any of them as you do other things - but if I have to be in the zone to do the trading, I have to be with them to do it, so I can surely only do 1 at once as I had to do when attempting the plot? This makes no sense to me, and with my friend playing the game who is unable to get his freighter to move at all, I cannot put hours and hours of work trying to get something I cannot utilise properly. Does anybody have any suggestions?

- I considered trying to capture ships, but when I do I have no way to tell the ship to run to safety, or repair them, or fly to a station to wait for me to deal with them later. It just does not seem like a viable option without the ability to tell my ships what they need to do. The ships I have captured always die in the now hostile environment because they do not understand what is going on. Is this going to stay this way?

- My friend has managed to save up enough for a mining ship, but when he bought it he could not get it to follow him. It just sat there. Eventually it sprung to life, and followed him, but he could not enter mining mode. Eventually we figured out it had the wrong drones, but he was unable to find the right drones in his system. I flew around my more completed map and eventually found them, and he managed to get there and was able to buy some, except his new mining ship was all the way back where he attempted to mine and would not follow. I had hoped to try this, but now it seems this route is futile too.

I am really running out of ideas on what to do to advance and enjoy this game. Each route I try seems empty. I have so many problems and issues and theres no communication going on that I can see. These and the Egosoft forums are just full of rage, and I desperately want to help out, report things that dont seem to work and collate information on how to get things working. I really hope we get some clear, concise information regarding a lot of the issues I am seeing.

There is so much good here, but the deeper I dig, the less I find. I hope somebody has some answers. I just want to be able to enjoy what we have so far.

Thanks for reading.

TiP: For new players
A good tip for new players is to not just jump in and follow the plot too quickly.

If you do you will get alot of negative faction which makes it hard to trade and identify the different locations and travel around without agro.

A good way to get started is to think long term!!!

So start slowly. In each zone identify as many exclamation marks as possible. This will make trading easier in the long term as well as filling in your map with identified targets.
While doing this build your faction points by taking combat and transport mini quests.
Then move to a new zone and repeat.
What you want to do is build your Plutarch rep to 25.This makes you a Plutarch member once you buy the liscence.

So later in the plot you wont have Plutarch agro and even if you kill a couple Plutarch ships it wont take you into negative rep.

Doing it this way you get to build up your funds allowing you to buy Shielding droids, upgrades to your ship like, better shields, engines.

Plutarch licenses can be found from Yannet Braks in the nightclub at Auspicious Excavation as well as Kareen Jovi at Valley Plantation 1 landing Platform in Even temper in Look Out Alpha.

Then advance plot until you get your Trade Vessel.Don't go and do the Plot mission.
Instead attach the ship to you so you can go and buy Fuel Cells In Look Out Alpha ,Even Temper,Staples Farmery 1 or 2.Purchase lots of fuel cells as you will need them later on when you advance plot to travel long distance.
In the meantime though you can just cruise the zones making huge trades with the tradeship until you feel you got enough cash,Ship upgrades,Trading software,Marines, crew.

Do all this before you advance plot and war starts with Plutarch.
Then you should be in a good position to continue the plot.

There are some diamonds to be found. Theres some interesting game elements here. I can only really go from what I have read as I have not managed to build what I want yet. I'm still struggling through the campaign, trying to find some Metal plating.

Anyone else still fumbling with this game?
