I've always gotten a warning popup that I have the wrong version of the game.

With this new patch I can't read radio buttons and when I try to enter a scouting mission I'm told my packets are wrong and dumped.

Did a clean install.

Guess I'm out. Been fun!

stuff like that used to happen to me too, you need to run the game as admin and then it can upgrade you... fails on newer windows when not running as admin due to uac type issues...

It definitely sounds like you're running an out of date engine build. I have also seen this caused by anti-virus software which refuses to let the darkwind patcher work and keeps forcing it back to old versions of files

Got it running now, although it keeps freezing and crashing. I'm running it out of the download file.

I'll keep fiddling.

And the radio buttons are visible now.

On my Windows 7 it didn't give me issues in the past but I've noticed on Windows 8 I have to load normal then close then load admin and close then reload normal and close and reload admin and close and then on the next iteration of normal loading it works

I'm guessing it's a Win8 issue.

You mean without unzipping to a new folder? Not a good idea, as it won't be able to patch, I think. Handiest place to unzip to is probably a new folder on the desktop itself, where you definitely have read/write privilege.

No, I mean having unzipped it to another folder. It installed normally before and didn't work. This time it just installed into the folder it was in and worked.

And while it may be a "Windows 8 issue" it only happened after the new changes.

Did you use the setup.exe method previously? (if you can recall)
I removed that option as it's more hassle.. but could put it back again if it's better for some people.

I have do this on Win 7 as well but then it works fine, normally only the once through (normal, admin, normal)
