NEW PLAYERS READ THIS!!!!

Hi and welcome all!

First thing to do after the tutorial is go to the webpage and on the left side you will see a GAME INFO section.

Read as much as you can starting from the top.

Then enter a town race event- but do NOT try to win- wait at the back and get to learn how the physics work.

Then find a town Deathrace, and stay at the back and get the hang of targetting and shooting.

Lots of players will help with taking you on scouts, and giving you scout cars etc- but if you like the look of DarkWind, please be patient- we ALL like to help new players, but have never seen an influx like this, so for the first time there are just not enough established players around for all of you!
Good luck- and enjoy!

Also try to link up with a veteran player who isn't already swamped with helping people and we can walk you through a few of the important basics that may not be obvious from the rest of the guide stuff

If I can keep my lobby connection stable. I'll be messaging new players who pose questions privately. That way I'll have a chance to walk them through some things and they can in turn help the next.

Can someone post a link to the tutorial Videos in this Thread?

In your jaunts around the website, be sure to check out the Hall of Fame. There are some very entertaining comments, and you can learn a thing or two about life and death in Evan. Mostly death. Lots and lots of death, really.

Does the fact that this forum is not positively awash with questions mean that the combination of tutorials/website/wiki/exuberantly helpful player base is working?

Perhaps... or they just don't know where to look. Maybe Joel is right and reading has gone out of fashion.

No.

Most of the players I've helped don't even know that the web site exists, or that part of the game is played from it.  Many don't even look at it until I tell them I want to give them a free car and they have to go to the player market to get it.

So as this is the case, they wouldn't know about the forums either.

Joel is right, many people don't even consider reading stuff. By the way the Help button in the client provides quite a bit of useful basic info too

Also forums have been either slow to upload or required a second click new players may not even know they exist

this is absolutely correct... it would be a very good idea to link from the client to the forums. Answering detailed queries in the clients is really hard. Also people dont know how to post bugs etc.

God I hate radicals that force others to read, I prefer radicals that make folks look at picspics

My second day here and I found the forums easy enough. Love the game, but I hate the wait for new matches to start... especially ones that I am looking to run in. Is there some way I can create my own matches?

yup

There s request event button in the upcoming events list.

Or you can always set up your own custom event via the Events Diary. Here you can chose the track, car and payout for the event.

Or, there is always TACtical, where you can set up stuff for fun without using your own gang.

Here is a steam guide with pretty pictures that should get you started with the game: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=306977838

If you find anything that is missing, tell me in the comments and I might add it

Thanks for that guide, I find it quite helpful. That being said, I do read before (and while) playing games, in order to avoid asking irrelevant questions. :P

Now the only thing keeping me from enjoying this game are the constant crashes that make it unplayable at the moment. :(

Here's hoping that a future patch may help me out, although I start thinking it may be an internet/router problem on my side (game crashes on desktop, notebook and my old MacBook).
