Darkwind
2000 chrome skin-a-real-car shootout

The CAR - I've got an 89 Jaguar xjs v12 with fading paint.

The STAKES - I also have 2000 chrome sitting around collecting dust.

The CHALLENGE - come up with a real life skin I'll paint on my car and cruise around Phoenix in.

Note: Winner take all, winner can be rewarded with real money prize in addition to chrome (how much is 2000 chrome anyhow? - Groovelle)

This would be better suited for the vampire chassis. But, if you want it on a pho chassis, it is possible with variances due to different body styles.

Why stop at just a paintjob?  Why not do a proper job, like the XJS from Deathrace:

Sorry I wasn't clear. This is a competition to make a paint job for a real life car. Winner will have the option to receive the chrome as well as compensation for doing this kind of artwork. I'm leaving it up to you as to how you design it/show it off. If you can't draw the paint job on the car/a drawing of the car, doing a skin of a current car/model is a-ok.

Well, I still started the project. By the time I caught the last update on your request, I just decided to go ahead and finish it anyways. So, here is your Darkwind 89 Jaguar XJS.

pretty good - but the front is too sloped for the XJS. It might work better for the F type or maybe even the E type.

Think Bas had it right with the osprey

Always wanted to use the Merc skin and do a Daimler/Jag based on it but my attempts have been just pants - always thought the XJ6 would be easy to make up on the Merc :-(

Oh yeah Great Work X, wish I could skin like that

PS I vote for it to be released into the wild ;-)

The vampire chassis has the best overall look because of the long hood. Tilted and curved front clip is unavoidable, but made it work as best as possible. Using this chassis also lets you put in a V12 too and that is a definite plus.

Oh, the Osprey front clip is horrid. Looks like the top of a Lego piece. That chassis is best left as is. Even though I used it to make a 77 Trans Am skin, it still doesn't look right.

$250K, then I need your email address so I can send you the skin file and the swatch.

If you do want it, send the cash directly through the webpage, not through the client. Client at times takes the money out of your account, but it doesn't always go to the account you send it to, regardless of the activities tab posts.

And the winner is ... The X Man!!

Sure, he's the only one who entered but his take on an xjs in viper's body was second to none. He also convinced this writer to respray the original xjs with its original paint color. Give a hand to the creative, the talented, The X Man!
