Virtual tour of Galway

Being a dumb American I have silly notions of what European cities are like so today I took a google street maps tour of Galway.  Interesting things I found out:

The sun shines occasionally.

There's a barbecue place named Smokey Joes, I wonder if they do barbecue properly there.  Around where I live it's a religion and we do not take lightly to heretics that boil or grill meat and dip it in sauce and call it barbecue.  I should love one day to try some ribs at Smokey Joes.

There are public life preservers along waterways so if someone falls in you can try and rescue them.  How nice!  They'd immediately be vandalized or stolen in most of the U.S. cities I've lived in.

Galway has graffiti.  A shame, I always considered Europeans more enlightened than Americans but people really are people no matter where you go.

They drive on the wrong side of the road, like many places.  Yes, I know how this sounds, it is intentional.

There's a pizza place named Apache Pizza.  I can't think of a less likely word to pair with pizza.  I'm imagining an Apache brave showing up at your front door in full war regalia to deliver your pizza.

There are women there with impossible shades of red and blue hair, same as here.

The country roads are narrow, not much more than a single car width in places.  No fog lines painted along the edge of the roads either.

These people love rock walls.

The homes and yards in the city are smallish, but that's the same as here.  In the country they tend to be larger.  They don't seem to have much in the way of established suburbs with 1/4 acre lots like we do.  The houses tend to be very close together.

It's very green.  I think early spring because people are still wearing heavy jackets.

The architecture is very modern and interesting in places, older in others.  They tend to intermingle a fair amount.

They seem to have proper zoning.

Looks like a great place, maybe someday I'll see it in person.

Welcome to Europe Tango!
Next google mission for you is Leicester in England- the most multicultural city in the UK.
And BTW- we brits don't drive on the wrong side of the road. A humans left eye is mainly concentrating on distance, while the right eye is more for peripheral vision. You can test this yourself by just closing one eye at a time, you will notice that your peripheral vision range is much greater with the right eye. Therefore, driving on the left of the road gives you greater peripheral vision of both sides of the road ahead.
That's why we have 'accidents' and you have 'wrecks' :D

And if you do ever find yourself in Europe- you're more than welcome to spend a few nights at mine and sink some proper English Ale!

EDIT: And for gods sake don't ever visit E14 London! sorry Grogat!
