OK- for anyone who doesn't know......
When using a lorry for haulage travels you will get an encounter. Exit the Lorry driver and run away. The AI will not USUALLY attack the demoed Lorry. when your escorts have killed all the bad guys, the looting screen pops up and you put your driver back in the lorry. This method has been discussed many times as to whether it's an 'exploit' but as SAM has known about it for many, many years it is assumed not to be. Also, it is not without risk. The bad guys WILL sometimes still attack the driverless lorry, and will of course go after the ped, and you still have to actually win the encounter anyway- which is why it's NOT an exploit- it's a TACTIC. Lorries are slow, massive targets, with paper thin armour- so this is how vets do haulage - whether they like to admit it or not! |

LOL- yeah I expected the vets to comment on this subject with "OH NO- I don't do that- I have a legendary battle lorry!" BUT THEY DON'T!!! The ONLY point of lorries is to haul as much bulk as you can- so you're daft to use that space up with 9.4L engines, guns, gunners, ammo etc when you don't have to! |

I'm calling you out here Brun. Watch any of my Badlands Trucking replays. We are built to run, but if we must, we fight. Had to kill 17 enemy rigs in 2 encounters on Bridge Out both encounters coming back from the north this past weekend. It was an intense 4 hours.
And I don't work factions. I get attacked a lot! To me, that is Darkwind. Every day is Fury Road! Awefense |

Sorry buddy, can't speak for me. Or d0dger, or Gorde. D0dger tends to split them up and run, Gorde fights. I almost always fight, very rarely with just the right setup or gates spawn I will run for it. I got nothing against park and fight, it's your choice. It's not for me. You can look at every lorry travel I do to confirm this. And I DO have a Legendary Battle Lorry. The Legendary "Wrought Iron" Vehicle ID: 405135 While I can appreciate the idea behind not wasting valuable cargo space on weapons if I need to run with more bulk I just bring a second lorry. Even it is not unarmed, I run dual NG on that one as well. The two combined let me haul about 4000 bulk. I don't know where you got the notion that everyone does park and fight, but it just ain't so brother. I tend to keep things at a roll with lorry escorts. Besides parking in the middle of the road with 11 cars in a pack in badlands is a great way to get killed. | ||||

I will throw my opinion in here too, hopefully might even give some newer players ideas.
I will do the lorry park ganger swap dance ONLY from Elms-SS, have done it many many many times. I have even made the costly mistake not once but twice hauling as much mail as I could get from the vendors to fit into my lorry, this gave me a leaving town encounter and 3 road encounters, which to me was almost unheard of between the 2 towns. Both times I lost the lorry from a car ramming and then proceeding to rocket/shoot up the lorry, I dont know if the ramming was intentional, however it seems that once that AI run into the lorry it starts shooting utterly destroying the lorry, along with your rep since a lorry load of mail is quite bad to lose. I have had this also with a lorry full of fuel, so it could just be unintentional, however a lorry exploding full of fuel quickly ends the combat. So will list the pros and cons for the newer players. Doing the ganger hop does have its own risks, 1. You need to stop your squad and move a ganger, if the AI is close this can lead to very shot up cars/ possible lost lorry. 2. If the AI rams a lorry then you have almost lost the lorry 3. You must keep the AI within 500m of your lorry, or else it dissapears never to be seen again. Even in the loot page at the end it isnt there. The pros is that you dont need as many gangers as a rolling combat, you can do it with as little as 2 gangers 1 driving each car, and then you end up with 2 gangers in the escort car gunning. This however is NOT how I would even think of doing it south as the roads are too narrow and ramming is almost a cedrtainty, I will roll usuall 1 lorry running with ballistics, and 2 escorts running HMGs this however uses up 8 gnagers as opposed to 2 or 3 for north travels. |

OK- points taken guys.
I must have refined my methods over the years and become better at this than I thought, as I never have any of the problems listed by Splurs above (and I completely agree that this method will end very badly south of GW) However, I did say in my first post that I do have awesome gangers for this squad. With a 366 scout I have a lot of encounterless runs up north, and very rarely pull more than 5-6 bad guys which are taken out by my 2 buzzers before they get anywhere near the lorries or escaping peds. I did also say that it's not risk free- as nothing should be here- I was just putting it up for new players to think about an alternative way to make money than endless solo grinding. As I write this- there is 50k of courier missions in SS to ELMS that will fit in one lorry. 2 times in a day is 100k. That equates to hours and hours of solo grinding. I apologise for saying that ALL vets do this- I knew what the response would be- so was just causing mischief! However, This WAS posted in the newbie forum, so it's not really relevant for players like Xman and Tango etc to be saying what THEY are capable of doing in lorries, and I spose this ruins my point as well, cos of the skills of my own gangers. I was just trying to make the point that everyone seems to think that solo grinding is the only way to make a lot of money- but market trading is a very viable alternative- but like everything, you have to put the time and effort in to learn it. (I am not as 'gung-ho' as other vets, and I find it very rewarding to set off a travel before work, get home later, and drop 250k in the bank! but it's horses for courses I spose. The variety in the different things you can do every day in Evan is what makes this game sooooooo awesome to me) But running one lorry with 3 BPU escorts with a 100+ scout and some half decent gunners will net you more than you will lose- and the more you do it the better you and your gangers will become anyway. If any new players fancy trying it- I have plenty of spare lorries in GW, and will happily sit in and watch and advise on your first few runs. Much love to all, Brun. |

And just to prove i'm not full of it.....
S856475 Todays only encounter for 420k profit. It's as easy as that (usually!) In my experience, the AI never go after the driverless lorries, or the running peds- is that to do with having a 366 scout? I don't know. |

They sometimes will Ram the Lorry in my experience but usually go after the higher CR guys near by
|

*Splurs* Posted Jun 18, 2016, 10:12 pm |
I don't think they purposely go after the lorry, they sometimes just get the lorry in the way. Hence I will almost peel off at around 60 degrees or so to drag them away from the lorry quickly. I think the main reason you never have the issues is because you run your ganger away and escape. You probably spawn your lorry a distance away from the escort vehicles? I park the lorry right next to a buzzer, exit a ganger out of the lorry into a buzzer then peel the buzzer away, that way I can use 2 gangers in the buzzer and 1 in the lorry, that gives me 3 gangers in the buzzer for the fight. My lorries run at the 10 armour all round to keep CR down, while still being able to take 2 shots before damaging cargo. |
