Eternal Rally, Henry get ready for Badlands CoE

Henry loved Rallies. Whether it was just a Pro Rally in the small town of Somerset, or a Deathrace Rally out of the slightly larger city of Gateway, Henry had forgone sleep to take whatever muscle car he was feeling out to race against the elements and the other clans. Henry actually became leader of the Travellers from all the leadership and courage he’d gained travelling for CoE. CoE, for those of you that haven’t been paying attention, is the Circuit of Evan Rally series. The biggest thing in the wasteland. Which made it the most competitive. It dragged clans out of retirement every year, some that Henry wished would just stay gone. The Travellers would win some year though, just had to keep at it. Henry had missed the start of CoE this year, in Somerset, which was usually the easiest and friendliest rally. It was also the rally all the new and emerging clans would join, and then they would quickly realize the were outgunned, out classed, and under equipped to be even remotely competitive in the CoE. Most never even bothered with Elmsfield, the second stop on the trail. Henry had joined in in Elmsfield. While the crowd was small, it had some of the usual names. Henry knew better than to shoot at them or try to beat them. Like a pack dog, he fell into place and accepted his 3rd place position. He’d traveled to Gateway then, a week ago, to participate in CoE there. Things had gone less to plan, as he’d got tangled up with another driver and they’d both wrecked. This was, of course, his fault, because the other driver had been doing this so long he must have felt he was just entitled to win. Henry fell back and took his place at the rear of the race, taking a few pot shots from the clan he’d “wronged”. In a later rally, his car had been lit on fire, and he’d been forced to retire, and the car had become stranded in Gateway. Undeterred, Henry hopped in his now renowned Pocket Rocket, and pointed the tiny Flash to the next Rally in the Badlands. Badlands was arguably the best place in the Wastes to be setup. The Raiders and other undesirables weren’t quite as strong, or crazy, as they were further south, but they still had access to the best vehicles and guns the wastes had to offer. If you wanted the best loot with the least worry, Badlands was the place to be. Henry mused on this as he pulled into the small outpost the Travellers had se up in the back corner of the Badlands truck stop. They only had one gang member here, he’d participate in the occasional race to add money to the clans finances. Henry honestly couldn’t remember the guys names. He handed the keys to the guy, “Get the Rocket cleaned up, and show me what we have to drive around here, I need a car for the CoE this weekend. A Armored, decently fast and preferably with some climbing capability. You never know where the gates will be, the event staff have been know to #### with us.” The ganger, whose name was Stephen, nodded and locked the Rocket. “Follow me, I have just the thing.” Henry followed him over to the car port, and Stephen fumbled with his keychain a moment, getting a big, dungeon looking key out and unlocked a padlock to a the area the Travellers paid rent on. It was mostly empty, they hadn’t been active this far out in awhile, although the plan was always to get back out here and do what the Travellers were good at: Kicking ass and taking loot. Stephen got the door open to the hangar and flipped a switch. The lights buzzed on, one after another going back about a 100 yards, until the massive, empty hangar was illuminated. Stephen motioned to a small golf cart, and they hopped in and drove the length of the hangar to the back, where a few vehicles were sitting, covered in dust. Henry shook his head. This was pretty abysmal. A Trashtruck? Henry chuckled. He’d get some laughs, but he’d bet money he wouldn’t finish. There was a Dustup, a Buccy, and a couple of Ospreys. One, Osprey, rather, as the second one had no armor or engine in it. A Phoenix and a Voyager rounded out the selection. Despite the dust, they were otherwise all good and ready to go. Henry didn’t take long to decide, grabbing a set of keys off the desk in the corner and walking over to the Buccy. No weapons, A Armor, and a 3v8. Pretty as a picture. Henry knew he wouldn’t win this one either. He’d come somewhere in the middle, like he always did. But Henry knew that showing up was half the battle. And he was gonna keep showing up. He was gonna get a podium this year. He turned over the engine, and the Buccy sprang to life, purring loudly. he grinned and stuck his head out the window. “Stephen, find me a race, I need to warm up. And radio Gateway, tell Cynthia she is in charge. I won’t be back that way for awhile.” Stephen gave him a thumbs up as he tore out of the hangar and out in the surrounding area to test the car our.

What a CoE. The first one was rather tame, with Henry ending up 3 out of 4, in a last second run to the final gate that ended up with Travellers getting the pass. They hadn't been trying to get 3, but you can only drive so slow.

CoE II was the most fun the Travelers never thought they'd have. Some nitwit gang brought a Tanker with a ReRam to fight the Alley, and Alley responded by opening him up like a tuna can, and of course, the Tanker exploded. Henry had made a Rookie driver take out a Trash Truck in a 6 man field for fun, expecting to make a little cash and finish dead last. But with the Tanker clan running their mouth, The Travelers found themselves in 5th. Then, the Raven Lunatics (Who the Travelers are slightly at odds with due to an unprovoked attack in an SCLD Race) managed to flip their Buzzer, and the Travelers found themselves approaching the 4th place position. They had briefly considered running over Ravens clan member as vengance, but figured that was a pretty ####ty thing to do. Almost did it anyway after being warned about repercussion if they did, but still decided to not get a minor clan involved in a bigger war. Travelers do not like being threatened. None of it mattered, cause even as the Travelers took a 4th place, in a Trash Truck, the Ravens managed to flip their Buzzer a second time, allowing Travelers to secure a 4th place. During the race, a clan member from Joels Bastards (Universally hated in Evan for...well, for being bastards) had imparted some wisdom to the frustrated Travelers. They said the key to winning CoE was patience. And the Travelers had a lot of qualities, but that wasn't one of them. They'd have to learn if they ever wanted to win.....

In CoE III the Travelers demonstrated they hadn't learned anything when they quit midway through a race after failing to climb a wall. Maybe they weren't ready to play with big dogs

You had no intentions of finishing the race. You came there solely to ruin other gangs people and assets. And it backfired on you.

you mean to say i came there just to scrape up some money and had no intentions of shooting others up as i couldnt since the majority of people were faster than me and i had dual Rrams at the front with no side guns, the only gun i had was in the BACK and by the time i would of gotten turned around Joel who destroyed my tanker would have gone over a crest anyway

It could be you are just unlucky.

In the past people have brought tankers with losers driving them just to blow up at me.

Live and learn.
