This needs to be discussed more.
The NPC merc hiring is one thing, but I would TOTALLY dedicate a "ready" squad that could be called upon if needed. I'm sure I'm not alone in this notion..... |

Then shout this at the next town hall meeting! Bring your nuns and sowing kit, the Blood Roses still need a tailor

I still think this can be done without need for system control. Just arrange it between yourselves? And yes, I think it's a great idea; I'm considering doing it myself (but perhaps wouldn't command a very good price). |

Oh well in that case, come check out Nine's Mercenary Review Board. We'll keep the funds in escrow subject to satisfactory performance and arbite between parties in disagreement over contractual fulfilment.
For our troubles we will charge a minimal percentage of the funds as fees and ensure contract failure is discussed at the business end of a car cannon or six. |

I have been arguing strongly for this.
The counterpoint that comes up is : But just hire them - why have a mechanism, just as Sam says. Hire them - take them to you camp and then put them in cars etc etc. Forget it I will never do that. Maybe some will - shout it out loud here and I better see you actually do that! I think that is moot, at that point you are a camp member, with skin in the fight outside a payment. This is a mechanism to hire NONCAMP MEMBERS to fight for you. If you are a camp member - you cannot accept the job. Job is accepted at Dex's tavern - your gangers take that long to travel out to the combat hex and fight (maybe return is instant to avoid B.S). This system could be expanded in the future - should camps get "marketplaces etc". Then you could post jobs for goods deliveries this way too. Would be nice to have a 5 star system to rate the player mercs you hire too. This is probably not necessary and would require an overseer (Sam/X /Nine/ other really longterm marshalls), If someone screws you on a job you probably won't hire them twice anyway. |

I strongly agree with Joel. My entire trading side business is because I have a reputation for not only getting the job done but replacing items if I lose them. There should be a mercenary review board to handle disputes and protect both camp owners and the Mercs they hire.
I like the idea of escrow. You don't get paid until the job is done |

Is this part important? why? What about scheduling issues? i.e. the battle you're hiring them for will have a scheduled time, but what if you hire them and then the merc owner can't make that time? I think the system would have to be flipped the other way: camp owners advertise for help, with times known, and players bid to help (but have to be accepted). |

would be awesome to post missions in the taverns to transport or fight for a camp, draw new players in, have them pick sides and dive right in

Can't be camp member because they are MERCS haha Also to allow the travel to battle from TOWN. Newb and non camp players are largely in TOWNs. If they don't make the fight - they don't get paid and they probably don't get hired again. Perhaps the contract could be broken by both parties beforehand if there is a "headup I can't make it". Yes maybe you are right players bid. I like that. |

The main functional thing that's needed is a way to build the squad from vehicles in camp *and* vehicles from its primary town. I'll start with that - a special type of squad that's only for camp wars. |
||||||
*Rev. V* Posted Apr 29, 2020, 9:13 pm |
Saw that camp squads were implemented!
Also on this note, and I do not expect this to be implemented immediately, because there is a BUNCH of stuff to hash out- Some general thoughts- If you wanna be a merc for camps, could there be a section (*IF* I understand correctly, which is ALWAYS a possibility, if you don't HAVE a camp, you don't have access to the wars pages?) where camp owners can see who is currently up for hire, and the force they are willing to commit to the hire? Because that would be sweet. That said, if they can only be on that list and NOT scout, like the camp squads....that would kinda blow. (Unless, again, I am misunderstanding something...) I really don't wanna have good gangers/vehicles tied up for no good reason, I'd kinda be self griefing if that were the case... Then there is the matter of wages for said hires, which, quite frankly is another issue... No matter what, it would have to be better than winning a town event... And I could certainly see a 2 tier wage scale- You pay X if the combat is going to blues or resignation. IE -Your gangers live (Well, hopefully, bleeding out from wounds should just be an accepted occupational hazard, life on Evan is harsh.), you get to keep your vehicles if your side loses. You pay XXX if we are going all out red zone. IE- If they die, they die, you do not give nor expect mercy, and you lose your toys if your side loses. You've got thoughts, fellow mercs....lets hear them! |

Hogfather Posted Apr 30, 2020, 1:51 pm |
Mercs *ALWAYS* get paid FIRST, not after. Always. It's never worked any other way in the history of mercwerk.
But a rating system on them would be appropriate or just word of mouth. Also, unless you are a tactical moron, you aren't gonna be hiring mercs for important grabs. You'll use them to secure tertiary targets. |
||||||
Joel Autobaun Posted Apr 30, 2020, 3:46 pm |
No typical is upfront fee (half) and half after.
Maybe with mercs doing bidding..they get that money. Then winning bid can accept or reject bonusing: 1 fight till first blue text(for merc) 2.fight till first red(for merc) 3.must enter score zone. Etc Or those things are in the original request for bid. Additionally the payment can be held by bank of somerset intrust of job done properly. |
