Minister of Truth Jerry Shelton steps up onto his stool clutching an official-looking piece of paper.

"As many of you know - many of our gang are of the Badlands region - street urchins and bandit boys who managed to make something of themselves. Those of this region know all too well the pain of war and violence, and having spoken to local leaders we are today announcing the North Badlands Mandate. Under the careful guiding hand of Longoville this region will finally know security and *cough* self determination *cough*.

"The immortal ideology of Longoism will guide this impoverished region into a new age of prosperity! Let any northwards expansion by The Embassy be denounced as naked imperialism and banditry by all who love freedom! "

*An uproarous applause erupts from the crowd*

During a lull in the applause, a quiet voice asks from the back of the room-

"This isn't a new religion, is it?"

"Yes, well..." starts Billie "That would mean competition for your ladies."

Brad 'Major' Payne sees his partner 'Taz' passed out at the bar... again. He gives her a few nudges until she lifts her head just enough to make eye contact. "Whaaaaaaattt?!?"

Brad leans in "You hear that foul mouthed little punk?!?, telling The Embassy to keep outta Gateway!" "Screw'em" Taz mutters back. Brad nudges Taz again until she sits upright. "It gets better" said Brad, The Boss caught wind of this and said we need to turn our squad around!" Taz gives a slight grin, "North??" Brad gives her a wink and a nod back, "North... let's go!"

Wanda Bell chuckles to herself. "Can you believe this guy?" she says while gesturing to the man on a stool. She finishes her drink and looks over to the rest of her crew, still laughing amongst themselves about Longoism.
Ashley Lopez shakes her head, "Let them retain their dirty northern Badlands." Anna Lopez nods in agreement as the crew continues to snicker to themselves.

William Morey hadn't earned his 'stripes' yet with the Slaughterhouse Bath and Lodging crew. But he would now. He smiled as he ran his hand down the angular bonnet of the brand spanking-new Buzzer he'd managed to score, totally by chance, from the Mechanic's shop here in Badlands Truck Stop.

They'd just finished installing the "A" armor onto her. Quite the price tag for that, but the Top Man had okay'd the bill. Morey smiled again. If he'd slept in just another minute, he'd have shown up at the shop a minute too late to score this beauty.

She had a souped-up 3.2 V8 in her and a pair of HMGs up front for dogfighting, the preferred Buzzer style of combat by Slaughterhouse.

Nothing gave you the control or damage like a pair of big fifty cals. Even the better-armed bad guys out there in the wastes only lasted a few seconds against the onslaught of those rounds.

"Well, whadda you think?" the Boss Mechanic asked, also smiling. They'd done a great job with his find.

"I think there's a world of hurt coming for whoever we hunt with this baby." He smiled even more, reaching up to unlatch the armored driver's entry port. He put his foot in the 'stirrup' and hauled himself inside, settling in behind the wheel. The mechanic walked over and hauled himself up onto the side of the Buzzer, leaning to look in at the obviously very happy Slaughterhouse rookie.

"Aye, she'll rip someone a new one." the junior Black said. "I knew she wouldn't last long when she 'hit the lot.' We don't get these in very often. You did good, kid."

"You guys run a hell of an operation here." Morey complimented the Mech'. "When I signed on and got sent here, I was thinking 'great, I'm never gonna earn my stripes just sitting around.' How wrong I was, huh?" he laughed.

"You got that right, kid! Your Top' has got to be damned happy with you!"

"I feel sorry for the next one they send here. I'm going to the big leagues!"

The Mech' shook his head. "I feel sorry for 'em, too." He shook his head with a disgusted look, hopping down from his perch. "There's some nut jobs going around talking about some new cult..."Longoists" or some such idiot drivel. Just what we needed, another bunch trying to tell all the rest of us how to live."

Morey reached down to the ignition. "Well, if you have any problems, let me know. I might be able to help out with...'readjusting' some religious crazies."

They both laughed.

"Aye, laddy, that you might. Good luck to ya!"

Morey slipped the seat harness over his shoulders and tightened the belts. Hit the ignition. The Buzzer, as of yet, unnamed, roared to life. He could feel the power from the V8 rumble through the frame.

Dumb ass cultists. Religion ruined the world before this...how stupid did you have to be to realize there was no place for it and that there were no gods?

"Longoists. How freaking stupid." He thought, putting the big rig into "D."

:: scored a Buzzer in Jet Black's for just over 30K build-out. Slapping a bunch of A armor on, however, was a little pricey. But hey, I'm not complaining! Now, to get it to Elms! ::
