I am getting the message that my game engine is out of date...to restart the lobby...doesnt work...do you think I should delete and re-download the client...running vista... | ||

If you are using the Client, re-type your name and pass.
If that doesn't work, start and/or restart the Java lobby, this will update your Darkind files. |

vudusmith, that was about to happen, since you downloaded directly the game client the first time...
When you double-clicking on the darkwindlobby.jar (by default placed in start menu/programs), and you wait a bit, it doesn't downloaed anything, right? |

As vikking says, I recall you had to manually download the game engine file the last time? Since that file has been modified, you might have to do the same thing again.

You are correct JD, but it seems there is a problem with Vista and -at least on vudusmith's computer - the java uploader keeping the game up to date. Could it be a built-in firewall security issue? We'll have to find a Vista operated computer... ![]() |

thanks guys...I do get a download like the game is patching...but after i still get the message that the client is wrong..here is the contents of my console folder if it will help...

Actually it looks like none of the patching worked for you, your scripts version is wrong as well as the engine version being wrong. Best grab the full download again, if that's ok?
We'll get hold of a vista machine for testing ASAP, sorry about this.. I think it must be some kind of security setting in Java or something. If you get the full download, don't forget to manually download this and unzip it into the same folder as the java lobby: http://www.dark-wind.com/gameEngine/darkwindClient.exe.zip |

I'm actually reading up on Vista and Java; it seems Vista has locked down security very tightly.
If you're not already logged on with administrator privileges, can you try that? Failing that, can you make sure you have the latest java runtime from www.java.com? |

Right.. it seems the problem is that Vista credits the user with no intelligence, and refuses to make installation folders writable. It even pretends to change security settings on these folders but actually doesn't.
I'll make a new topic to explain the best way to install on Vista. |
