I'm confused on how it works and is it applied to all components in addition to chassis?
Also if you slightly damage something it can always be repaired to 100% (or at least it's current max) but what is the threshold? Sam you talked about a hidden 3% permadamage in another thread, what is that about? |

It applies to all, yes. Most components can take far less damage than chassis though, so it's chassis you see it most noticeably on. When an item is damaged, it can only be fully repaired if it was within 5% of its current maximum. Otherwise, it's best-possible health is reduced by 3% and this is as far as you'll ever get it fixed again.
5%
Permanent damage is a value that you don't see directly when looking at an object. It's only seen (indirectly) when you try to repair it. With "hidden" permadamage I was refering to the confusing situation where 3% permadamage was being added to a chassis, but only after it had just been repaired to 100%. This is no longer the case, since I recently changed it so the 3% is applied before the chassis is fixed. |
