Jurryrigging...

If my mech has Jurryrigging x2, is that two possible cars, or a better chance at getting one?

Similarly, if I have two mechs with Jurryrigging x1, is that two possible cars, or a better chance at getting one? Or the second only gets a minor skill boost but doesn't count for jurryrigging?

i thought sam had said there was an advantage to having other mechs... he certainly said something about you need ing other PEOPLE to help with the loot... so a mech on their own is less use than a mech and two people with no mech skill...

somebody has to carry stuff

from wiki

Mechanics in the Wilderness

At the end of a successful wilderness event the skill of the best mechanic is the main factor in determining salvage. However, if he/she has less than 3 helpers (who don't need any mech skill) then their ability to work effectively is reduced.

In terms of training, the best mechanic gets most, but the best mechanic from each other gang also gets training.

My understanding:

Your top mech (JRx2) will get a chance to repair/salvage each damaged vehicle. The level of Jury Rigging will increase the probability of success, and increase the health of the recovered engine.

A mech with up to 3 other mech helpers will perform better (greater probability of success) than one without those helpers.

In your example, the Jury Rigger x1 mech is helping the senior mech, but he won't get his own shot at repairing loot that the senior mech was unsuccessful on.

There has been discussion in the past about allowing the second and third mechs to receive training. Not sure if it was ever implemented, but if so then each mech would have a chance to repair/salvage (and get skill points) the loot.

I haven't fully confirmed this myself (or confirmed by others .. but maybe somewhere in wiki), because I only just got a mech to Lv2 jury.

My Lv1 jury guy seemed to repair dead engines to 4 - 5%.
My Lv2 jury repairs up to 10%

I don't know the benefit of multiple mechs because I specialise my mechs. Ie. just jury, or just salv.

Only the top mech from each gang gets training, currently.
This is set up to encourage multiplayer scouts, of course, since a multiplayer squad will overall receive more training than a singleplayer one.

There is only one repair/salvage test made on each looted vehicle and on each component that's being removed from an un-jury-riggable vehicle. I'm not sure if giving multiple chances would be a good idea since this would have a major effect on the overall game balance in the looting process.

Ok sam, but does multiple "Jury-riggers" help?

Or does it help also having a savager along even if he isn't the top mech?

My interpretation would be 'no'.  Given that there's only a single repair/salvage roll on each vehicle/component, I would think the highest skilled mech would be using whatever specs he has, and any specs held by less mechs would go unused.

Hmmm would want a confirmation from Sam on this, but I had the impression from what has been said before by Sam that having a salvager along does help with salvage even if they are not the top mech.

And there's a big difference between "gets the training" and "uses the skill." :)

As a former army tank-technician, I'd say it makes perfect sense that jury riggers should get both the training and use the skill. I mean, I don't even need to share my experiences to emphasize this is common sense, in terms of RP. (but I like telling stories, so if anyone wants me to go share my stories, I promise I won't put any of you to sleep :cyclops:)

Of course, in terms of game balancing, I haven't thought that far about it...
