Sorry folks I got a picture in but it was so huge that I made the whole topic unreadable. I'll work on getting smaller pictures together perhaps.

For simple image processing stuff, I would use paint.net.  It has some powerful features, but the UI is nice and easy for non-artists like me.  Plus, it's free!

I think the maximum image size the forums are comfortable with is around 450 pixels horizontal.
