I run it on both 64bit and 32bit editions, only problem is that if you change resolution you have to restart it or as soon as you enter an event it crashes

there is also a strange crash on the loot screen, but it's probably unrelated as it happens also when I play from the mac.

Runs flawlessly on my 7, or well, as "Flawlessly" as darkwind runs on anything

Not the most stable client, I must say, then again, its so quick to start again so its no real bother...

And grograt, get 7 either way, it is the best windows OS thus far.

had it too, on a 6gb rig with raid 0 raptor disks and vista was continuously trashing them. with 7, after a game is loaded the disks are usually turned off for all the session until I save - just my two cents

Vista does do things to harddrives. Esp if you use a lot fo the deisk searching stuff and the dreamscapes(which is ominously missing in win 7).

Face it win 7 is vista sp3. Sucks, but it is better (on the same machine here).

it has slightly less annoying popups, still be prepared to agree to launch darkwind each time (workaround: give write permission to write in the darkwind folder to Users)

...aaaand because of that, is a tad more vulnerable to virus than vista. it's strongly advised to use an adblocker to surf internet, just in case.

I personally run it without an antivirus but I'm a bit of an hardcore user so your mileage may vary. I've hijack this installed just in case, but never used it. My grandpa instead get a virus almost on a weekly basis, in spite of the antivirus installed (and I've tried norton, avira and ms security essential - none of them prevented anything)

Unplug keyboard, mouse and network cable.
Remove user.
Put in a safe.
Put armed guard in front of safe.

There now your windows is secure.

as for Microsoft Security Essentials...
Instead of making a virus scanner, they should work on fixing the bugs the virusses exploit.

It all falls down to users.... if the user doesnt realize that the website pop up that just said your computer is at risk click here to scan is actually a rogue antivirus or antispyware the writers of those softyware will always win...

or when computers can do a disk image ever morning quickly then if you get something that day, just reimage and go...

also saving all your files online will cure that problem...

but of course when thin client is back and no resident operating system then users are safe from everything

but back to topic... being able to load everything into memory and not use the hard disk is the absolute best...

windows 7 isnt a leap forward but at least a step forward and not backward ie windows millenium

if you can keep your computer powered you can set up a partition in memory or how ever many gigs you want and install a virtual machine of windows and have your whole system running in memory alone..

however one power glitch and everything is gone unless you have a nice battery backup

Just upgraded to Windows 7 but now the client doesn't load properly... I get the little "Game client is loading" popup box but then nothing.

EDIT: tried setting compatability mode, was already running as administrator... tried a complete uninstall then reinstalled it and the only thing this did is reset the sound settings to the defaults. I can hear the sound through speakers/headset but the lobby never comes up nor is there anything in the Task Manager to indicate that the client is even loaded.

Not sure what you mean by that. I have Java, and have had it for some time, if that's what you're referring to.
