Darkwind - Viewing Topic: Disk space and windows 98se comp

Newbie eager to jump in. But I'm running a windows98se machine with little HD space. Hence two questions for which I couldn't find answers here:

1) Will it run on win98se (JRE 5.0 installed)? Does it require DirectX?

2) How much HD space should I expect it to really occupy in actual use?

Can't answer the first question, but my Darkwind folder is 238MB.

I think it's ok on Win98, yes. DirectX is not required, but Java is.

I have been looking without success for system requirements.

The thing is the performance is abysmal on my machine. The lobby is OK but the game client is unplayable (even moving the mouse about is terribly choppy).

So... I have two questions:

A) I run a P3M-1.6 / 512Mb laptop with a Radeon Mobility M6 w/ 16Mb physical memory. Can this cut it, with minimal res and settings?

B) My graphic drivers probably need updating. Given the choice, should I focus on installing OpenGL or Direct3D drivers?
