Darkwind - Viewing Topic: assassination in SS -silly idea (REDUX)

Okay, so last time I did an assassination mission, I took it against the Civ's. The first scout I had with them, I met the target, killed him, and stuffed up my scouting from SS for nearly 2 months due to the very hefty bounty ($777 or there abouts).

One would think I'd learn from past mistakes. This time, I took a bounty on the leader of the Dune Peddlers. After 10 runs against them over the course of 3 days, I wasn't able to get him in an event, let alone shoot at him. What gives? How are we s'pose to kill a leader when he just sits in the tavern at SS all day long for half a week? Was there any way I could have finished this mission? Now I have a bounty on my head in SS for FAILING to kill someone. Damned if you do damned if you dont.

So now I am reluctant to scout out of SS for a few weeks while the heat dies down.

You safe from militia/bounty hunters if you scout with other people, if they are the scout leader, and winning those scouts will get you your rep back with the civs quickly.

I love assassination missions and recently took one against Cyber Formation. In the time I had the mission, Cyber were nowhere to be found, and countless searches for them hunting Raiders I came up with nothing. The bounty I received as a result for failing was not too bad, but I was a little disappointed by the outcome.

One of the risks associated with assassinations I guess.

You only have to assassinate the leader of the gang in the event which may not be the gang leader.

I had some recent bad experience with those.
1st one : meeting the leader in a full ambush against me with overpowering force. I Barely had the time to flee.

2nd : Client crashing at the start of the event, couldn't guess who the leader was... Very hard to kill everyone.

3rd : Same as 2nd

4th : My mistake i think. I keep the autotruce for friendly faction and i had to kill a friendly leader of mine.

I think i just meet him on the road during a scout, drink a beer with him and say goodbye.

Not too big bounties in SS as my targets were primarily enemies of the main SS factions.
