OK, I'm at the point financially where I can buy a killer muscle car without having to have my gangers do something character building like not eating, forgoing hospital treatments, or not getting paid....

While I do REALLY love my Pho's, I want something else.

What, in your opinion, is the best muscle car?
And, could you please elaborate on why you feel this way?
Any cons to certain models would be appreciated as well, so I can get the overall picture.

Thank you for your time,

Rev. V!

It really depends on what role you want the car to play.

Pro Racer?
Muscle Scout?
Flanker/Chaser?
Trader Hunter?
Courier?

Hmmm, yes, very good question, I can see that my original question was a bit too broad....

Muscle scout and flanker/chaser would be the applications I would use it for the most.

Buccaneer is probably the next level of financial commitment and best all around muscle car before the Osprey.

The best muscle car is pretty clearly the osprey, but you'll not be affording one of them for a while.

Personally I like the buccy for its speed and handling, although the armour is paper thin - you'll need to be fast and a little lucky to muscle scout in it.  The moray is tougher and more stable, and I use them as couriers a lot due to the larger cargo capacity.

Honestly the pho is pretty good, so you'll not see a huge improvement, but there are slight advantages to be had.

edit:  the moray can also fit a 5lV8 unexposed, which is sometimes nice.

I had a look
He has 3 Phos-
2 4litre twin GG
and a 3.2litre RL/GG

Dont forget the racers
Flashes and vamps are great fun
Avoid Bullets , they have poor ground clearance

Spend the big cash on a good engine

yeah, osprey is the only really uniquely awesome muscle out there. can fit all the guns you want and still bring along an extra looter! :D Drives just about as good as a pho.

morays are nice, think they have some more space. buccaneers have a nice model...

ive had one flail in bl for a looong time, its nice to bring along with lazor crazy showy thingy scouts since its got a little more armor but the one i got in ss has never caught my love.

but for ss scouting the phoenix is pretty much just as good as any of the others.

the rental vampire is awesome, had great fun with it pre-subbing but havent really found a use for one ever since.

bullets just plain suck. kinda. (well not muscle anywho) you could take one out for a pro race but there will always be some rich old players with something superawesomer sos you wont even be able to cover costs so youd better like having a laugh tagging along during the race.

collect one of each and make up your mind from that is my advice.

So, am I correct in interpreting peoples remarks as-

Pho's are near the top end of muscle cars, as far as handling goes?

IMHO, the Bucky is by FAR the best handling 'muscleer' you'll find. It does have it's drawbacks like the armor but, It gets out of trouble faster than it gets into it! The Bucky SHINES on the race tracks though!

If you REALLY want a good, dependable car with toughness, speed and room for weapons that can chase down just about anything, go with a Mercenary. This car is stable enough to take some of the heavier chassis bouncing heavy weapons, its' armor is REALLY tough, with a large unexposed engine it's a speedy git! With no weapons and minimal armor, you will have enough space to take 100 bulk missions (with a 15 gallon tank) and STILL outrun even the Vampire if you take it off-road!

The Phoenix is really a very nice muscle car. It handles turns, and possibly more importantly for a scouter, recoil, very well for a muscle car.

You might get the zing you're looking for just by upgrading your 4L engine to a 3.2L V8 and sticking with the Phoenix. It will net you a little more power but moreso it gives you 10 more bulk to use for weapons and crew.

I'd also suggest you keep an eye out for a Buccaneer and/or a Moray and try both to see what you like. If you keep an eye out you can usually grab either for under or around 100k. Again, you'll want a 3.2L V8 for them to have muscle power, but still have room for more firepower, as compared to your phoenixes.

If you haven't tried them yet, the Windsor II and Mercenary are sedans that can make decent quick combat cars, and have more bulk capacity and stronger armor then the phoenix.

I played for my frist few months just using Windsor II's, Phoenixes, and a few Mercenaries, before I started moving into Apaches.

Taking into consideration that you are still on the edge of blatant poverty (no offense meant, just judging from your initial post), I would strongly suggest the Phoenix.

It is common, fits a 4L unexposed with room for a gunner and reloads and has comparable armor to most uncommon muscle cars. The heavy backside makes it ideal for turning into an opponent's side when dogfighting at close range (appropriate handbrake maneuvers required).

My favorites muscle car - excluding the Osprey, which I have yet to try - is the Moray. It is a bit on the bouncy side, but thanks to a generous ground clearance, it is ideal for outrunning foes in rugged terrain and speeding up steep hills to gain the height advantage. Although it is a bit less maneuverable and speedy than the Buccaneer on flat, clean road, this relatively rare type of terrain makes the Moray a superior choice for scouting IMO.

For racing, the Buccaneer is my absolute favorite vehicle.

Moray is great. Good handling, a little extra space. Buccy is faster given the same engine, and is a more solid "handler", but the armor is an issue. I kit my Moray's for chase duties with a MMG/FG/V8 and some reloads.

I think everyone here is really underestimating the Vampire. I haven't used the other muscle cars well enough to comment on a comparison, but I have a trader chaser Vampire in BL that I absolutely love, great handling and decent room with a 3.2L V8.

It's also a smaller model, so it gets hit less than those other big gas guzzlers.

5th is an ARTIST using DW as a canvas when it come to those cars.....

Been in scouts where his Vamp handling REALLY made a difference.
Nope, not discounting that chassis at all.

Ok, the 3.2LV8 was a HUGE success tonight...was able to do flanking actions in a big way...sooooo much fun.

Even looted another MFP Interceptor skinned pho, at 100%.... :D

I guess I'm the oddball here. I actually prefer Phos as couriers and Sunnys as my dogfighter. They turn better than the Pho and can turn inside easier.

I use Phos are fast couriers in the triangle and 4L Bullets (fuel and mail) and 3.2V8 Vampires (gun runners) in the GW-BL runs.

Caution towards using Vampire for scouting. I found in pro racing that once the front armor is gone they are super prone to catching on fire (just hitting bump on the track twice ignited it both times). I never tired one in a scout so I can't comment if that is also the case.

I can't comment on the Flails and Osprey. I have a Flail but never tried it. Likewise I have a Pike set up for Trader Chaser (it has the best bulk before you get to the Flails and Osprey) since it can carry a VSG and still have enough room for a decent weapon. Never got to use that either. :)

All the muscle cars have there own bits here and there. I'm like Upgrayedd when it comes to phoes and sunrise, phoes are good to run, and sunnys on for fighting.

The Pike and Stormer haven't been mentioned much above, and both good cars too I think.

Not sure if its me and the way I used it, but my Pikes' armour seemed pretty thin despite the extra few points and it could be a bit unpredictable when turning hard, was a good flanker though with room for an RL and gg and very fast. Like the moray it can take a big motor. Not sure, and maybe others can clarify, but I would say similar in handling to a Moray, maybe faster where the moray is more stable the Pike is a ghost gone wrong and can really suffer under recoil and hard to turn while being hit.
I use a Stormer with a HCR. At low speeds it handles as good upside down as on the flat, so you can park on a light post and shoot (similar to a sunrise in performance), can even use this method with an atg, where it seems to manage the recoil ok. High ground clearance, makes for a bouncy ride, but means it can go over rough terrain and get into some tricky places.

I like my Flail, heavy but fast with a big motor, lots of armour. I use mine to chase and can get shot lots in the process. Weight means it handles a big gun quite well.

oooh forgot about the pike and stormer, those are my favourite chassis after the osprey! :D Love my stormer, only car I use v8 and hgat + random 20bulk gun in!

Pikes are kinda my standard scout cars, i think. like those.

I seldom use v8's because you cant repair those in town. so until you learn to drive them to camp for repairs i wouldnt recommend them. I use 4l in all my regular group scout muscle, even the osprey just because that allows me to mess up and still repair the engine - i'm lazy like that. Also I almost exclusively scout with muscle in SS so the messups WILL happen, just gotta get the car home and a 4l is always exchangeable. I NEVER EVER use 3.2l in muscle! Those wont get you out of a tight spot.

But as far as chassi choise goes, i try to keep at least one of all at all times and just scout with the one that is repaired. The osprey and any other car that can fit an extra looter go on big scouts. (dunn remember but i think the pike can fit two 20bulkers with v8 and still take 3 guys)
