I've (finally!!!) got a ganger about to hit 50 in gunnery...
Could some one fill me in on what my choices will be for specs, and pros and cons of each?

I looked in the wiki, but it's pretty barren on this subject....

Thanks!

Rev. V!

Normal gunnery..not large?

Large guns I usually take Rapid reload as they can be out for a quite a while otherwise.

Normal guns, sniper or even moving target are firm first choices for me. Both are useful. You can also take snipe and then switch to train large guns....combining snipe with some of the heavy hitting stuff like a CC can be devastating.

What's your driving style? Like to get close behind and chew on em, like to stand off in a line? You can start to tailor your troops for specific roles with the specs...just have an idea of what you want to do with them ;)

Take sniper. Put him on a paint gun and get 50 ballistics, then take Rapid Reload. From there it's whatever you want.

I disagree. Take sniper. Put him on a paint gun and get 50 ballistics, then take rapidshot. Then put him on a lrg gun, get him to 50 in lrg gunnery, then take rapid reload. Rinse and repeat :)

Thank you!!!!!

Now, type in "specializations" in the wiki search bar and see what you get....and you'll see why I said it was kinda barren.

That's because they are specialisms, not specializations.

Well, that's strange because that search takes me to the Specialisms page.

For Gunnery, I normally go with Sniper. Haven't had a Laserfire or Rocketeer yet. Rapidshot is good too, depending on what you want to use that guy for.

so snipr helps whith long ranged shots, what counts as long range? at what point do you get to short /mid range?
are we talking 100m + to get benefits from sniper?

I'd gotten the impression that Sniper just gives you a percentage boost to the range bands for any given weapon - each weapon of course having its own unique range bands.

I really like Moving Targets myself, took me a while to see the benefits, but when you have gunners (with similar attributes as I believe they effect accuracy ALOT) with different skills next to each other on the same weapons, take note of what that purple bar is doing and what the target is doing.

Really I think the first question is, what is gunner going to do. Rapid shot is great, but if you want to use CCs in Apaches, maybe not so good. Different stokes for different folks.

Taking Rapid Reload first up might be good to reload quick, but with 50 more points till next spec, is it really going to help you that much.

I say Sniper or MT for first pick, but if you get breached a bit and use MGs, maybe take MG spec so you can shoot those damaged MGs.

Pretty sure they work this way:

Sniper - reduces the accuracy penalties applied from range to target.

Moving Targets - reduces the accuracy penalties applied due to movement speed of target.

Moving Targets is more useful when playing the rear firing running convoy then in the static gunline.

Sniper is pretty much always nice, to help you shoot them before they shoot you.
