Darkwind - Viewing Topic: Client wont load with Windows 7

I cant get the client to load on my system running Windows 7. I loaded all the patches ..Java and microsoft runtime c etc..
Received error. cant Parce file.. and virtual memory erro..

Please assist.. If possible..

Is the message 'cannot parse file' displayed by Windows itself, or by the DW patcher? -- if the latter, perhaps you're running the game from a place where you don't have write access, and/or not running 'as administrator'

The virtual memory error may relate to graphics card issues.. can you check the console.log file from inside the darkwind folder and see if there's anything there related to a graphics card or driver issue?

Sam, dunno if this helps you any-

I was in the lobby and saw him log in a bunch of times yesterday, but then log right back out...
So he's partially getting through, as his attempts show up in the lobby.

Thanks it was the graphics card! So once I ran the driver update.. Installed the drivers, I was able to get in with Windows 7..

Life is good!

I had a similar problem when I was testing out my backup machine in DW (in Windows XP). The microsoft WDM drivers had crap perfromance, but as soon I downloaded direct from nvidia things were all good. This was just using motherboard integrated graphics.

Microsoft is trying to snuff out OpenGL by not supporting in their drivers. Have to use manufacturer drivers to get OpenGL support.
