Hey guys, I'm brand new here, but can't seem to get the client to actually go anywhere after clicking the link of Tutorials - just says "Starting up your tutorial.... please wait." I've waited 10, 20, 30 minutes on different occasions to no avail. Custom events are the same thing. The other six surrounding buttons seem to work (like Recordings, Options, My Gang, etc.). Also it says that I'm logging in two or three times upon my initial logon, and will log off the subsequent logons, when in fact I am only hitting the logon button once after inputting my username and password. This subsequent logging off does allow me to click the above mentioned links, but will not allow me to send chat messages, saying I need to logon (though I already am). I'm using Windows Vista and have the latest Runtime and Java, and am running as administrator when opening the client. Any help would be appreciated.

All that logging on and off sounds like a network configuration issue.

First thing to do would be to turn your firewall(s) off to see if the problem goes away. If so, turn the firewall(s) back on and start configuring ports and traffic until things work.

Apparently its not Comodo, as it is uninstalled from my computer, but I still keep getting auto-logged out four out of every five times I open the client. Keeps saying that I am logged in twice and must log me off. Also, when the connection does work and I play through an event, it won't open another subsequent event - it will begin loading, but then drop the connection, though this time says I am still logged in. So, in essesnce, I can play one event, then must go through process of relogging on.

Is the Windows Firewall turned on?

Are you connecting to the Internet via a Router? Does it have firewall functionality? If so, is it turned on?

Some broadband modems can also function as routers, and have firewall functionality.

Markkos - thanks for the help so far. As for Windows Firewall, it was turned on after I got rid of Comodo Firewall. I put a port execption on it to allow it to connect the port Darkwind wishes to use. I am using satellite, not cable, as a transmission means, and am not sure if the burst trasmissions are somehow different than what the server expects to receive. I do not know about firewall functionality on the router. I do however, continually receive the following messages almost every time I log onto the client:
"You have logged on a second time, so this connection will be dropped"
"You have been logged out by the server"

Turning off Windows firewall, my only firewall, for a short period while logging on did not help.

Does anyone have any possible solutions to this? It's sometimes unbearable to try and connect, and have it fail literally 20 times in a row, enough that I just don't feel like playing anymore. It's a great game, just not worth this hassle, hopefully Sam or somebody has an idea.

I might can answer part of your riddle...

When you launch, are you getting a white box in the center of the screen asking for password and username, or is the client loading and asking for them in the upper left corner?

There are actually two executables and they run a little differently.  you might try the other one.

they are darkwindlobby.jar and darkwindlobby.exe

iirc they are found under C:\Program Files\Darkwind

If your connection is wodgy and you use one of them it will look like you're not logged in and it's not doing anything, just wait 20 seconds, then it will finish logging you in.  Usually when I get that message about multiple logins it's because I just haven't let it finish logging me in and I hit Login and it's still processing the automatic one.

Good luck!

Tango, thanks for your and Marrkos help. Turns out it was a router issue. I plugged a new one in and instantly have a perfect connection to the client now. Never had any other issues with the old router other than with this client program - weird. Anyway, I'm up and going, and happily blowing away the mutants right now. The game got so much better now that I can play it, lol.
