Andrew Keith sat dejectedly, flipping a coin and letting it fall to the table with a hard thunk. The coin caught the light as it spun downward, and Andrew vividly remembered the shifting lights of the cars around him, the spotlight tracking each car around the turns. The feeling of putting that phoenix into a power slide. The roar of the crowd. The thrill of the finish line.

Thunk.

Andrew blinked, he was in Elmsfield, a place where races happen about as often as a solar apocalypse. He swiped his coin off the table and said, "Anybody willing to drag my hide back to Somerset? I'll even throw in some conversation on that ten hour ride."

Thunk.

The coin hit the table again, bored and dejected, Andrew put his head down on the table. Just then, the tavern doors opened and a familiar cowboy-hat-wearing figure walked in: Jacob Starr

"Jacob!" Andrew exclaimed.

"Don't get too greatful now, I was only doin' what Mr. Ralls told me to. Deliverin' some mail this-a-ways and I thought I'd come pick your hide up." Jacob explained in a drawl as he flopped down the mail bag, "Actually, we've got the phoenix all ready to race for ya once ye get back."

"Wait." Andrew said, puzzled, "If the phoenix is back in Somerset, what'd you drive to get here?"

Starr grined with one side of his mouth and turned out the door, "Well I guess you'll just have to see for yerself."

Andrew followed. His gaze fell upon the polished chassis of a WindsorII. The door had the decal of a black rabbit on one side. He grinned. Jacob started to climb into the drivers seat.

"Wait." Andrew said, smiling, "let me drive."

After one peel-out and several miles later, bored of conversation, Andrew picked up the radio, " This is the Hare, any drivers out there need some conversation? I've got plenty of it."

(OOC: Andrew got a ride. If you want to talk to Andrew or Jacob and, ya know, RP a bit, go ahead and post below.)

Used to mostly static this far out in the dunes, Mosher was surprised to hear the two way crack into life. He didnt recognise the voice so waited to respond, well aware the pirates round these parts enjoy pulling in the unaware by friendly tactics.

Again the radio crackled with life

Mosher picked up the mic ' I hear ya, what ya all doin' in these neck of the woods, ya watch ya tails boys, them pirates monitor all the stations round here, come back '

"Well don't I know it." Andrew said as he keyed the CB. We've got a fast car, an' I've won some of the local races around Somerset. We're packing some mail, so unless the pirates want to read some love letters, we don't have anything of value."
He paused, shifting gears,
"Howabout you? you compete? Over."

Checking over his shoulder for any signs of pirates mosher smacks his co gunner round the back of the head, with a resounding ' thunk '

' Wake the hell up Dimebag, what do you think we pay ya for dude '

Groggily rubbing the back of his head dimebag checks for any signs of blood, man he hated blood.

' Back at ya Andrew, were jus on our way back to SS needed to drop of a couple of drunks and druggies at Elms, seems our wages are helping some of our guys, have just a little bit too much fun '

Crrruuunnnnccccchhhhh Mosher not paying his normal amount of attention on the dunes throws the osprey over one just a lil too quickly, wondering what the second more bone like crunch was,he  turns to Dimebag now seeing his gunner rubbing a rather large lump that just appeared on the top of his head.

' What did i tell ya bout safety harness eh, now what good is a concussed gunner '

smacking dimebag around the head one more time, he picks up the mic.

' not much for the races, we done a few leagues but prefer the country side more to the arena, seen some good friends die in them there Death racers, there more dangerous than taking on any slaver in a scout. ,

pointing out of the right window, mosher nods at Dimebag

' Dust clouds to our 3 lets go take a look '

' Hey Andrew, whats ya location , looks like im gonna be running into some goons p[retty shortly, dont wanna make a mistake and take pot shots at ya dude '

"We're just about, uh," Andrew put the mic down and turned to Jacob, "Where are we, exactly?"

Jacob grunted and took the mic. A rough, reliable voice came over the radio, "We're about two-hundred miles toward Somerset, a bit north. This city-dweller here 's still wet behind the ears, kickin' up a damn dust-storm. Wouldn't be surprised if 'n yall see us, cause at this rate Somerset must think a sandstorms-a-comin."

~Skingraft~ stumbles into the bar conspicuous by his 360 bi-directional rotisary head and asks to thumb a ride back to da Somerset.

Not unusual except for his apparent excess of thumbs (some of which are obviously not his...)
