I was wondering about the Evan economy. Is the money in the form of cash? Cred-sticks?

I ask because it would be realistic (and kinda cool) if, in order to use money in a given town, you had to make it there or physically bring it there, rather than having wired transfers..or whatever is happening now.

As a newish player who hasn't accumulated the millions that the vets seem to have I prefer the current system.

If I had to risk moving my hard earned cash from town to town in order to buy things or even to repair/refuel my vehicles the loss of one of these money runs would be a major setback.

So if you feel you have too much money I'd be more then happy to take a few million off your hands. ;)

Well I've seen what your girls call 'virtue' and last time I checked there isn't a D, let alone two in the spelling of virtue.  ;)

....I guess you'll need to find a nun pic with at least an E.  :o

i think you are getting something all wrong here.. having to move money (especially if it is bulky and heavy) will make life a lot easier for newer players. Its one thing to move $2000 in coin from one place to another... its a very different thing to move 20 million dollars.... prices will come down as a result and the barter system will increase.

if you want to buy a FL camp you will have to ship the cash to FL... I would love to see someone transporting that kind of cash down there in coins. Peoples stockpiles of cash woudl become devalued... we could start to rebalance th economy to make #### loot worth next to nothing... it would all be good.

ultimately it is a step towards removing money altogether which would be much more post apocalyptic.

anyway.. carrying on the conversation with grown up people who understand what a post-apocalyptic world is I think we can happily ignore that last 'contribution'...

so lets go back to the previous message...

Gee, It's not my fault we have the "First bank of somerset" now is it?

I never said I disagree with you goat, and while I do almost agree with you there is never really a clear definition of a what a post apocalyptic world is, as it's never happened before.

All post apocalyptic means that at some point, an apocalypse happened, altough not a real apocalypse, then everyone would be dead ;)

A world without money sounds more like Star Trek than Fallout or Car Wars...

I always assumed the Merchants faction controls the banking system. If technology has fallen to the 1950's (with some exceptions) this would still be possible.

In a true 'hardcore' post-apocalyptic world there would be no working automobiles, since building cars requires a great deal of industrial and technological sophistication.

This is a very different perspective than previously proposed, with different money systems in different places.  And it sounds interesting.

I don't think it would encourage people to move out of SS (which serves my needs just fine but I think others like the idea of more players moving out of SS).

Instead of being able to 'dip a foot in' and run a car or 2 to a new town to see what it's like they have to be willing to put together a convoy with enough coin to get an operation kickstarted.  Then, if they find they are out of their depth, they have to either hope they brought enough coin to fix things up well enough to get back, abandon their crew in the new place or run a new convoy down with some cash to get home on.

This doesn't serve new players branching out very well at all.

I like my money

I like to hit the weekly amount i set myself

I like to attain a certain amount by each game year

I like money, it keeps me playing, if i didnt have to pay for upkeep. I probably would have disappeared a while ago

Some people gather chassis

Others renowned vehicles

many just ofor fun

and a few just to keep their money / points levels high

And that's one key element here: money makes it easy to 'keep score' for the folks that like to do that sort of thing.

While this is an interesting idea and I'd like to see it implemented I was more interested in looking at the old posts and seeing just how few of the old players were still around and how far the game has developed.
I love the mention during one of just having Elms open a little while ago!

Dunno I didn't really think money was much of a measure for success unless you are pretty sad...

...even less in DW were you cant spend it on anything useful like women and beer...

every measure of success in DW just shows you just grind the game a lot except your gangers dying of old age...

..which you can achieve by doing nothing
