The message is quite clear.  If you're not willing to PVP, you don't deserve to be in Badlands.  Just read Goat's post.

PvP has been mandatory everywhere except SS in the past, even then there were very few incidences of PvP.

People tend to only PvP if they have a reason to, be that if they have a vendetta against you (In which case you should be watching your back anyway) or if they want some extra challenge. Attacking a lorry with a couple of escorts does not tend to be 'fun' for anyone and so you should be relatively safe from most of the people who actively PvP anyway.

It is nigh on impossible to get a PvP attempt to hit anyway, even more so if you have a half decent scout.

What I'm trying to say is, people seem to think that there will be 24/7 and blood spilt everywhere in cold blood. Well, if that ends up being the case the I'll gladly eat my words, hat and any other word that links with the expression of being humiliated.

At the very least, add an 'alternate' town to Firelight so that PvE people don't have to pass through PvP territory to retrieve gangers captured by Slavers.

Captured in GW (or further north): captured gangers end up in the glad arena in the 'new' slaver town. Captured south of GW: captured gangers go to Firelight's arena.

Of course this won't address folks who want to run trade and/or courier packages between the PvE and PvP regions without having to worry about PC interceptions.

Disagree.

I don't PvP generally but any ganger that ends up in firelight is lucky to be alive at all and if they have to risk a player encounter to escape I'm okay with that--- especially since there is a player run free shuttle you can use to skip the worst of it.

You know what? Last time I heard PvP was not even possible on travels, as this changed? Don't know why it didn't work, but remember Shanty being a lot safer then people thought, which is a shame RP wise.

You know what? Last time I heard PvP was not even possible on travels, as this changed? Don't know why it didn't work, but remember Shanty being a lot safer then people thought, which is a shame RP wise.
Outgoing travels are interceptable, incoming ones are not...

Frigging hell, should we just do a whole PvP Q&A thread or something, actually, I'll do that.

Interesting comments.

Wiki doesnt say much about PVP, unless I missed it?
A thorough Q and A or wiki would be good, seems I misunderstood some issues.

As for what has been said about not deserving to be beyond BL thats fair enough if thats how the game is but it wasnt like that when I started and is quite a sudden change. I bought a camp and started developing it knowing I wouldn't have to contend with PVP. Now the rules have changed it's a little frustrating is all, guess I'd better learn some PVP builds.

PVP will not be that wide spread, just consider how many pro pvp players have spoken on thje forum ?

No more than maybe ten in total.

honestly many people are worrying about nothing.

these playeers still have camps to run, PVE to make money, races to win etc. their lives are not devoted to sitting waiting to attempt to catch somebody.

we are not a 1000+ community of gamers.

More like a 40+ at the best of times, then yake different world times into consideration and, well i am sure you can work out the risks of PVP happening eh ?

I think if people are gonna be forced into PvP regardless of their PvP tag, then we should change the coding so that players can not fire on a surrendered car. I think players who didn't want to PvP will be upset enough about losing their stuff, let alone their gangers. This could lead to some people leaving and we don't have enough players to afford that!

If you surrender all the cars on your side the event ends and no one can shoot you.

If you pay the bounty in the first turn or two you cna buy your way out of the fight.

Most players will agree to some other form of payment/barter to let you run away if you just negotiate with them as well.

If you refuse to resign your non-surrendered car(s), it's completely within the rights of the other person to use your gangers in the surrendered one(s) as hostages. You get to decide when you've had enough, and you can always ask for leniency in one form or another.

Having read iceman's post in another thread, I've got to say that I have a feeling this trial will be useless.

The majority of people within the mandatory PvP zones will leave, and so have no experience of the new system. This will lead to the same fears and misconceptions about PvP from the majority of the community so that when the poll comes around again in two weeks time everyone who wants to move back to BL will say that it was a terrible change and that it has ruined their game.
