Addendum: Don't solo scout. It's hard. You'll lose stuff.

I got all that advice and still wanted to try, so yeah. I tried as a newbie and lost everything. A long time later I figured out how. You will probably have losses while you learn.

Some people asked me for advice, here it is. I sent this as a pm to someone recently. If you have any questions, pm me. This is a work in progress.
If you want to argue, post your own thread.

As for scouting and making money: First thing you need to do is stop killing your gangers. You've been here far too long not to have some specced gangers. I don't know what you're doing wrong as I haven't watched you solo scout.

I don't know what you don't know. There is a LOT to learn. I'm going to hit the high points of making money.

1. CR spent on weapons not facing the enemy is wasted. Limit yourself to two weapons per vehicle on the same facing, front.

2. Armor spent on facings not facing the enemy is wasted CR. Keep your rear armor thin and never plan on running.

3. Your goal CR for your solo scout is 200-250. It's not a hand and fast rule, but the closer to 200 the better.

4. Assemble 4 teams of 2 cars with 3-4 people per car. Form squads and set everything up with the gangers and ammo and turn on all the auto repair stuff.

5. Roll your scouts to where you will get Northern Farmlands. If you need help with that ask.

6. Target Traders for primary and Raiders for secondary.

7. Roll as far out as your gas tank will allow(i.e. 25+ miles). Do not waste additional space on bigger tanks than the minimum, but do not have empty space in your vehicle.

8. Until you have sniper 2's, don't worry about any vehicles that run. Allow them to escape, check both boxes on the return to accept truces and get on with your next scout. The goal here is many short scouts.

9. Get a mech to 50 and get jury rigging. JR2 is even better but don't waste points on salvager until you have a JR 2.

10. With this setup you will encounter1-2 enemy cars as long as you at least use a 50 scout. You will have the advantage on guns. You will not fail. Use HMG/MMG so you can train one guy on hwavy while you train one on gunnery. Set your static weekly training on handguns and forget about it.

11. Take no chances on bad engines or shot up cars. You are worried only about skilling up your gangers.

12. Gunnery-> 50 get sniper 1.
Heavy-> 50 Get rapid reload.
Handgunning ->50 get sniper 2, unless you already got it with gunnery then get sniper 3.
Ballistics -> 50 Get rapidshot.

You are now ready to make money. You can engage the enemy before he engages you because your gunners outrange him. Start shooting at 120, don't worry about the misses you're getting sustained firing bonus for the machine guns.

Run your first squad first always if the cars are repaired. Go in order. Your first squad will get the most training. Only pick Motivator for leadership, recruiting is stupid waste of a spec. Get to motivator 5 and you'll get 4-5 points a week static training. That will help with handgunning.

You will typically make 10-25K per scout for the wrecks you drive back. You can run one of these in 10 minutes, with no return. That means by the time you finish the fifth squad, the first one is back and repaired. You can keep going as long as you care to.

For vehicles start out with 3.2L merc with HMG/MMG. They suck, but they will do the job. Driver, 2 gunners and one HMG reload fits. It will get better after your graduate from them. Fully armor them.

Once you move up to apaches, stay with HMG/MMG for weapons, or go HMG/RL but be warned the RL will miss a lot. Carry an extra person per car to get training and drive back loot cars.

This is a super easy method. It takes some time. It takes not being greedy at first. Build your gangers up, then make money. It's not quick, but it is sure.
