All good points guys, its great to see that everyone has different ideas and varied methods of carrying out these escorts.  I spose thats one reason why I like  DW there is more than one way to skin a cat  :pBut last time I checked this is a car combat game why do missions/escorts and not fire off a shot?  {or drop oil/mines/spikes}

I had a scout trainer running and the pho turtled, luckily I was right beside a very steep hill i climbed the hill and both guys peppered the two cars with SMG with no risk to themselves and with easy top armour shots the combat was soon over.  Im sure on scouts with a fast car and  steep hills, I could use this everytime and win{target traders and if you dont get the right map truce} with no risk to my gangers or cars..........BORING.
It defeats the purpose of the game, It takes away the challenge and the fun, so why do it?

+1 It's good to see newer players have this understanding.

I been doing a lot of escort missions lately. I run my cars one way and the escorted vehicles the opposite direction. my cars run out and escape, which means the ones chasing me are too far from the traders and auto escape, the ones remaining are too few and they want to escape, event over. I never fired a shot.

easy peasy

Do you consider that an exploit?

NO
I consider it a fact of how the game works. If it's not supposed to work that way, it needs fixed, and that's not my responsibility to fix it. Know where it say it's not supposed to work this way? I don't see it and it's well within the rules that are established. So get Sam to fix it and leave me alone, or accept it and leave me alone. Otherwise keep whining and achieve nothing except making it look like someone is exploiting when they are not.

I guess you think running unarmed cars out to 350 meters on a travel, then escaping, is a exploit as well.

For the matter of escort missions, it doesn't matter if the traders crews die or not, as long as 1 vehicle and 1 crewman survives, the mission is a success. and if it fails, it's only a day or two to correct the rep effect, that is if you got the time to play enough. Sometimes I just take a escort mission with civs or dune peddlers, so I can run away and let them die, Then I get positive rep with other factions

If I was pulling crews out of the vehicles once it started to travel, forcing only the traders to spawn, which in turn forces a truce, then I would be exploiting. And as far as I know Sam did fix that issue already. I can't be certain, because I'm not going to commit that exploit to find out. I'm also not explaining how said gangers would be removed after a travel starts cause then I would be violating TOS by telling someone how to exploit

Just asking.  I wasn't sure if it was or not. Now I most certainly know.

However, I would like to point out the irony of posting about it in a forum and then asking to be left alone.

Irony indeed.

Personally, not how escorts I believe are supposed to be set up to win, but.... a different way of looking at it...

The word exploit is thrown around too much, it's as if it is being used as a insult cause it's the only insult still permitted. If exploits are being committed, the exploits should be dealt with and made impossible to commit. Just because I choose to play differently then someone else doesn't mean a exploit has been committed. It only implies the ability to think outside the box.

I understand and see your point Smokey...

There is one part i would disagree however...

Running up that hill and using the SMG/pepperbox is solid tactics.

Boring, yes sometimes, but also VERY dangerous.

For example (god I love this one) is watching nearly an entire Sarsfield section of a gang get annihilated by a single heavy rocket while ped scouting.

The use of sound tactics, be it as it may, is essential in this game, especially where the AI has rather large slant in the case of numbers and CR.

Use of sound tactics also minimizes risk to your gang while inflicting maximum damage output or other beneficial result.

If you choose to take a scout head on, without forthought or semblance of tactical use, 90% of the time, a gang will suffer grievious losses.

Cheats and exploits are exactly that... Outright cheating and exploiting. Breaking the rules that are in place for a beneficial result.

Use of sound tactics that deemed *TOO* successful are called exploits, where in fact it is not the case.

Becuase I drove a high powered BPU into a lofty spot where 2 player run apaches could not shoot me but I could shoot them, is that an exploit or cheat?

Players who face this, would need to adjust to it, or die.

AI on the otherhand, *Sam* needs to adjust for it.

Sometimes, the powers that be, just need to build a better mousetrap.

It really is boring for the most part.  I was one of the first people to try ped scouting.  I hate it.  Thankfully it is kinda boring or we'd all be doing it.

I thought the limiting factor to ped scouting was a combination of taking so long to do, and glitches like having to click on a ped 4 or 5 times to select them or get a menu, since it seems only 1 small point on the ped can be selected, sometimes it's the head, some times it's the knee, some times it's the ankle. I think only players who play in very high resolution have the problem selecting items and menus.

There's ALWAYS a risk.  Just ask Krak about the "rain over sarsfield" incident. Just because the AI DOESNT shoot at you doesn't mean that they CANT. Because when you least expect it, they do. Then you lose a half dozen 6 to 8 spec gangers to a single near miss and resulting limb loss or fall

This is what I was referring to... Red Rain over Sarsfield was the post I made regarding this "incident"
