This is the game cRPG lovers have been waiting for since 2002.

Officially, it's the tale of two Source Hunters, valiant heroes on a quest to get rid of Sourcery and eradicate evil Sourcerers from the world without so much as a brick in a sock to call their own.

In typical RPG fashion, that's the premise rather than the plot, with early investigations quickly being overshadowed by both the inevitable end of the world and a journey filled with pit-stops that are anything but standard.

Some examples, Four demons trapped in statues who amuse themselves by pretending to grant wishes that lead supplicants to their deaths, dodgy adventuring guilds, hiring a prostitute to service a lonely troll, a pavilion that asks if you want to die and can be deadlier than any gazebo, a statue that tests whether your actions match your words...

Original Sin, should also come with a bag of spare F5 and F8 keys for a lot of quick saving and loading... Prepare to screw up, die, and curse very often, sometimes in plain humiliating, but hilarious fashion.

From start to finish, Original Sin is full of life and jokes and an addicting sense of enthusiasm.

Easily the highlight of the game is a talent called Pet Pal that lets you talk to animals; despite some generic humans sharing dialogue trees, every pig, rooster or rat scurrying around a dungeon gets at least a quip.

It's the most brilliant yet utterly unnecessary labor of love since Vampire: Bloodlines' Malkavian dialogue.

I have no problem in recommending Original Sin to RPG fans old and new, provided that you're up for a challenge from very early on and don't expect to easily charge al-a Diablo

Skyrim is obviously more free form and immersive, the likes of Mass Effect are more cinematic.

Divinity: Original Sin is hands down the best classic-style RPG in years. It's obviously not Ultima 8 in name (and that's probably for the best, because the Ultima 8 we got in reality was horrid).

It is, however, in every way that counts, the best successor ever to those classic journeys to Britannia, and a triumph on its own terms as a modern RPG with no shortage of fresh ideas.

It's like playing Ultima 7 or Baldur's Gate again for the first time, with all the benefits of modern technology.

It's a excellent game with a great story, solid mechanics and it's all very open and interactive.

Oh... Don't forget the scads of user generated content and robust modding tools.

All I need now is a space hamster going squeak, Squeak!

Words to live by, those. Even if they do lose a little in translation.

OK... having way too much fun here......

I swear these people ripped a page out of nethack in the regard of how you do really odd things in combat, especially with spell use.

For instance... Make it rain on the battlefield... no big deal, add lightning.. shock and stun in wide, not original.. but cool.

Same rain scenario, using a chilling spell to slow movement, which then freezes that opponent solid, Neat-o!, but now add a teleport spell, not for you, but for them.. and drop them from 100 feet, shattering your opponent.

OK THAT is pretty damned clever.

Or creating steam clouds to see invisible opponents.. nice!

Or petrifying an enemy... then using a pick axe to break him?

Yeah, ok... there are a ton of little combinations and weird little things you can do to set a battlefield, nullify an enemy advantage... or worse... general inventive ways to kill yourself. (Note - YASD does apply)

And dialog and commentary that goes on... Very good and hilarious other times.

Definitely grab this if you are a cRPG fan, while very tough and challenging (leveling up even 1 rank is a BIG deal)... definitely incredibly hard to put down.
