Is there anything I can do to stop being massively out numbered on scouting missions, my last mail run got surrounded by 6 vehicals lowest CR 113, my 1 car CR 75

Transport missions are always gonna get extra attention from the AI. Always check who you are accepting a mission from. Some keep their business private, other opening talk about their business. Watch out for the ladder because those are the ones that will make you a target.

Stopping worrying about using a low CR vehicle. Get a fast car and slap on a rear mounted weapon. Unless you get ambushed, you will almost always outrun and escape the AI.

Also check on your rep and if any bounties have been placed on your head. This will also attract more AI.

Ok, what's a fast car, I've been using a 3.2 pickup, 75 armour no weapons, tired a 3.2 spirit same set up, it didn't last 1 event, all suggestions welcome

A voyager can be a quick and elusive mail runner and one that is easily obtained in SS. Unlike a pickup, you can mount rear guns. That by itself will make life much easier on your gang. Phos would be your next option.
