Frank "C*ck"Roach", Legendary Leader of the Merry Men calls for everyone to gather around his table. "Let it be known that the heathen Synyster Gates and his band of cowards Avenged Sevenfold do not honor resignations and attempted to assassinate our crew in the recent COE II. In our good sportsmanship, after we started a car on fire, despite having a wide open, breached side, we gave them one more round of shots at us, as to pyro and then resign might not have been good sportsmanship. They missed us, we resigned, and then they started shooting our resigned car to kill our gangers. Well the Merry Men prevailed and were able to escape, looking back at the battle from a nearby hill, just in time to watch our Allies The Bastards blow up their Firetruck. Thats 2 firetrucks the Bastards have blown up in 3 weeks. Even funnier were a few peasant gangs who tried to blow our turin up, the loathed Alley Champion, by killing its engine and parking the truck we scorched right next to it. but again, our Allies Raven Lunatics did not run and hide, but charged in and disrupted this plot. He made several more enemies today, but we and our allies are strong, and we will return any loss of ours to them twentyfold. These gangs are not even out here to compete in the league, they simply come to shoot at us and our allies, and they will not be forgotten."

When Frank walks outside he finds

"death to witches"

sprayed across his very bent Turin in red paint. it can only be a taste of things to come.

its not really debatable... fires don't go out when people resign. You have killed dozens of gangers after they have resigned by using an undefendable weapon that continues to inflict damage after a resignation. Its a choice to use it... and a choice that means you can't respect resignations (and know you can't) but still expect other people to respect yours.

So basically you never did.

2 things
Joel and Longo have absolutely nuked a few of my guys with Pyro.
Hell, Joel did it and the car exploded before I could even get out of it.
However.....I am now training my own Psi' to prevent this. While I do think its a little hypocritical to expect resignation honors when you bring a skill so powerful that you have no control over the damage it does, it isn't undefendable. You can get Shields and even your own Pyro guy (Hopefully Faster). Thats what I am doing. Itll take awhile, sure, but its not like they got there Psi people overnight either.

Im not sure telekinesis would save you. You'd have to time things pretty well and its pretty easy to see when someone uses a psi. So you could just wait a few turns after you see a block move and then try. A good Pyro can torch 3-5 100%, full armoured, cars, trucks, military tanks, with almost immediate explosion. at like 50m (to memory). That was a pyro 2 (250skill) before the nerf. The nerf helped things a bit. She made a lot of legendary cars all by herself.

I've had all psi powers used on me in COE (back in the day I endured it in coe I II and III). Tinker used pyro, telekinesis, def energy, and the EMP on me.

By far the worst was EMP. Had to play guessing games with 5L or 5L v8. needed speed to run from pyro. Then he would flip me on my roof(with Telekinesis) and lit me on fire. Sometimes it got ridiculous, would just cast the whirlwind behind my turtled car so I couldn't shoot.

I didn't have a "team" then, he would do this with latte shooting me the whole time. They began to red my gangers(well latte did) when I beat them a couple times.

No one was doing the death to all witches back then. In fact Goat did his usual helping whomever is fighting me in SS and BL back then too.

he hated witches then too

I like them. they are very hard to train and make useful and you need to put in a lot of effort.

Guns can set you on fire too. And you can still blow up after resigning. A good Flame Thrower Dude can toast the stuffings out of everything. Cars exploded the turn you open fire, with 2 x FT3 RS3. you can hit a car 4 times one turn, point blank with HFTs. That hurts. They go bang. you are more worried you get caught in it yourself. Gotta get close, and you need some training too. But much easier than a good Pyro. And not limited to 3-5 shots. 1 twin HFT BPU can toast stacks of stuff In one event. 2s better! :cyclops:

I really don't have enough PvP experience to judge on this.

What skews people's thinking on Pyro is :  it is extremely useful in a race.  you are nearly always close enough to use it.  In a scout or wilderness battle it is a non factor.  maybe its handy to lite some npcs on fire as they desperately try to climb the impossible to get to you - that's it.  That is not worth it.  not worth the Y-milage, the time to train psi in FL, the vouchers used , etc etc etc.  Another skill to maintain on gangers who live about 5-6 seasons as masters of pyro.  Usually not another psi skill.  Often you maybe could maintain one combat skill if you are lucky usually it is deteriorating faster than you can train.  Esp if you are casual.

So it's use is regulated to now to just two races: COE2 and the lesser known Gateway Meltdown.  (They should call coe2, COE Meltdown).  People just lose their fkin minds over this #### and it's like 1% of the game.

I think this is a little unfair.

When COE started I tried to complete until it became impossible, despite at the time having one of the most powerful arsenals of gangers and kit in the game, due having my gangers burned in their cars before i could even get a shot off. Like both you and Longo I had told Sam that Pyro would be overpowered. It was.

So the only way i can RP this is to have my gang try to level the field (we are, after all, Reds). I have shot at you... shot at Tinker... shot at Longo... its not personal. If Ninesticks ot Bastille deploys David Copperfield in races i will shoot at them.

What makes it feel personal to you is that you are almost always the only person using sorcerers in races, and the only one making concerted efforts to kill other peoples characters with them.

Bastilles comparison with HFTs is a bit rubbish. Sure they can set you on fire... but you have to REALLY close... and you are likely to have been murdered by tank guns before you can get that close. The conventional defences against HFTs are obvious and usable by any player at any level... stay clear and hit from range.

I used it mostly in the wild. in a muscle car, that zoomed throughout the battle field. I started with tele, using whirlwind to hide. Pyro was my last skill and by the time I got it, 'Rend' was a 200+ death racer with 6 guns specs and 200Psi skill. She saved the convy on numerous occasions. She did more damage than either buzzer, in every event. If peeps don't know they are there, could be nasty but a cluey player know you got them though, hard to get that close in PvP.

Anyway, I won't have a good psi for a few years now. 7 psi skill... .thats what I got and they are dying already.

From my experience you had to be really close with a pyro to be effective too. The thing there was I could be passing a target at 100mph rather than actually fighting in close (and that had its own worries, suddenly dinding a ram at that speed with a character that you spent a lot of time in. Heart was always racing ). sure a HFT truck is not as nasty, but they can be pretty nasty. in COE.. HCRs and Tank Guns at 250+m was my downfall. If they wanted to get me, they got me. I never tried to buy a merc to help me though.

If you have ever fought Grimm in SCL, then you know this is not true regarding FTs. They can be devastating. He beat me, although took some serious blue damage before I resigned. They can be extremely effective.
