No typical is upfront fee (half) and half after.

Maybe with mercs doing bidding..they get that money. Then winning bid can accept or reject bonusing:

1 fight till first blue text(for merc)
2.fight till first red(for merc)
3.must enter score zone.

Etc

Or those things are in the original request for bid. Additionally the payment can be held by bank of somerset intrust of job done properly.
