Players have asked me over the years why I love to use the BPU when it can be squirrelly. I've sited numerous things;
No tire damage up to 60 MPH with reinforced tyres
22 Unit fuel tank size and mini rocket leaves 210 cargo space with a v8 engine
It can turn on a dime
Climbs like a billy goat

But it can all be summed up with this replay

but then again you have lost 20 hall of fame scouts in the first 8 months of 2020 driving BPUs around.

So i guess one event isn't the whole story.

bpus also handle recoil nicely, the shake a bit sometimes with a rapidshot but they rarely expose bottom armor or leave the ground for long like apes do
(i still prefer apes for rear gunning tho) :D

Doesn't have to be, who needs rear guns when you can spin 180-360 degrees in one turn? B)

Well, if you spin 360, you still need rear guns.

I've never had a scout with a BPU that didn't end up with a dead BPU and crew.

"They climb like goats." ...with A-armor and a v8...struggled, had to give up and go around. Then a Pho' climbs straight up the vertical surface I couldn't and flanks me. Then a Chomper outclimbs me....

Firing a pair of HMGs sends a BPU bouncing all over the place. Landys handle the recoil 200% better.

That being said...I recently ran a pair of BPUs from FL to BL. Through repeated Smoking Hills maps, I had a) a Hearse keep up with me, b) everything else, with no tires, outclimb me on some of those insanely long uphills. Me: tires. Me: v8 Them: neither. Caught me and shot me repeatedly.

Even with darth' helping, and we pretty much picked the same path...I couldn't shake the bad guys, who even stopped on basically a 45-degree slope, nose down, and still managed to shoot UP at me, where if I tried that, i'd have 'lost my target.'

800 turns.

While I did survive, barely, I was losing tires at any speed over 40 with RE's on. So never saw that 'up to 60' thing.

They're nearly impossible to keep going straight. Once they start sliding, they stay that way for half a mile or so of weaving back and forth and overcorrecting to correct for their inability to go over 50 and maintain a straight travel line.

Top speed sucks. With a +10% v8 I was barely able to hit 150. ...and the bad guys in their overloaded, no room for a driver, 2L's were staying with me.

Just don't see the advantages. All 'cons' in my experience.

Also, armor. Armor on a BPU is "Very Strong."

On a Landrunner it's "Super Strong."

You can carry more of it in a Landy. With a 3.2L+10% engine, Landys are faster than a comparable BPU...acceleration AND top speed.

A Landy is lighter. 200 lbs lighter. Gives up 60 bulk. And it can mount weapons to the rear, making it more versatile.

Handling is superior, in my experience. Hell, a Voyager handles better than a BPU.

I just don't see why anyone would want a BPU.

I both agree and disagree with Fealty.

I doubt anyone really knows the extent for my cargo running except maybe Splurs, Krak, and my brother (Boon). But here’s a short version:

Tried almost (literally) every chassis for cargo running. Tried different size groups as well. Ive come to certain “personal preferences” on what works best (for my driving style)

And let’s be clear that like most aspects of the game, each persons style of play will affect what works best for them. That’s why some of you drive Voyagers or use a Flash as a taxi and others do not.

Here’s my run down:
—ALL AROUND capability: Landrunner. A Armor, 3.2LV8, rear spike dropper, front LR and sometimes a 5space “mounted” Ram. Suspension: 90% height 115% stiffness. It has good acceleration and handling both on and off road. Can pack a significant amount of armor, better cargo Cap than a PU but less than the BPU. WEAKEST USE: BL to FL run. It doesn’t like the hills and turns and hard ground.

—NORTHERN ALL STAR: PU. A armor, 3.2L. Front LR. Height 90%, Stiff: 110%. This is my backbone until you go past BL. Not as good after BL due to terrain being more hard packed or rocky.

—LAVA LADIES: for BL-FL zones I prefer the BPU. A Armor, engine varies by mood. 3.2L, 3.2LV8, 4L or 5L none seem to have much advantage over the other and depends a lot on how heavy of a load I’m hauling. If I’m dragging engines or water, I need power, other stuff not so much. IDK my settings but I go Reinf tires at 110+ pressure.

BL/SV/TX/SF - see “ALL AROUND” above.

Tires and tire pressure changes based on location. That’s info for a while other post. But I have a system in place there too.
