It has been the buzz around the internet for some time, the Remake of Deathrace 2000.

Any time you use a vehicle as a weapon it's ok in my book. I don't care how much cheese comes with it. I had read on the internet about a "Deathrace" remake being made. Working title was Deathrace 3000, I'm glad they simplified that. I prefer my future Sci-Fi with a none specific time frame. Maybe it's the Kennedy/Miller influence of "a few years from now...". While The original Deathrace is a classic due it's just respect, it's production value reflects the technology of the day and looks quite dated by today's standards. I'm glad to see a grungier edge ala Bladerunner, not the squeaky clean future of the 60s. It makes the props and sets look more like they were made by racer than a set designer. More of a form follows function look rather than the illusion of mass production. Some story tweaks could improve things too. Although I learned to drive with the original Deathrace point system that would be a true horror to unleash on the general population. Shifting to a prison based system sounds like a great way to reduce a commodity that we don't need.
The idea of strapping a heavy machine gun or rocket launcher to a car sounds like a perfectly legitimate application and would improve my commute to work vastly. One needs to properly vent their road rage. :twisted:
