Failure to Launch

*Fourhand* The Flying Hellfish Autodueller Renegade Group: Marshals Posts: 366 Joined: Jan 1, 2008 I downloaded the game, let it install and enter my username and pass.  When I hit enter I get the error message "Unable to Launch Darkwind Client Application. It is likely that DarkwindLobby has failed to update the game, More information will be displayed" And it launches my browser and sends me to this page. http://www.dark-wind.com/indexJava.php?page=launchErrorWindows.php I have the latest version of Java. Firewall is down. No anti-virus.  When the Login screen launches it downloads the updates and the text files say I have the current version of the engine, build, and all that jazz. FourHand cannot reach any of the splash loading pictures (GG and Psychic). Only chat lobby works. Any attempt to launch the client leads to the error he reported. I am running Windows XP home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2. *edit* When I try to launch the game from the AutoUpdater/Chat I get the error message that sends me to the windows error page on this site. If I quickly close all the windows I can see a splash screen with a Camero (or whatever you guys call it) and the games title with the words "Launching Game Client". Not a Java problem or a patching/admin rights problem. He doesn't even get as far as failing with video drivers! I couldn't see how it can be the MSVC2005 redist missing for the non-IB version, because I build that one using MSVC6 and using statically-linked libraries.
