I understand the problem of getting to truce your way to mega riches, but it seems that the problem was solved by putting in renegade gangs. So why do we need to have trucing failures as well.

I worked hard to get my reputation with the Evan Reds up to respected, then they refused my truce and i had to fight them. They paid a price for that arrogance, but then I lost rep with them.

If they attacked me, and then they refused the truce, and then they got their butts kicked, why isn't that enough. Why do I have to lose rep wtih them as well.

It certainly seems like the renegade gangs solves all the problems, so why make further changes that defeats the point of reputations in the first place?

EDIT to add. These failed truce encounters should not harm reputations. They shouldn't exist at all, because renegades solves the problem, but they certainly shouldn't harm your reputations.

Imagine an encounter in the north. You go out and fight the slavers and kick their teeth in but you take your hits. You are limping back to town with some looted cars that just might sell for enough to pay for your repairs. Oh thank goodness, the Somerset Militia meets you at the gate. A heroes welcome. NOPE, they start shooting. They don't care that you are a local hero and a member of their faction, they just shoot you up and take all your cars and loot.

This failed truce option defeats the purpose of reputations.

I would say there is 0 chance this will happen. One person ruined it for everyone...sadly happens alot in life too.

I would recommend re-wording this request, more like the thought you had on no rep hit if failed and have good rep with the faction in question. Maybe this would gain ground and Sam may listen.

its not ruined. Renegades completely solves the problem without creating new problems. Their are renegades in Morgan and Firelight now. Problem solved.

Sam can easily remove the failed truce just as easily as he added it.

You can still save your rep with those gangs you are good with by not redding out any of their gang. Run and escape or shoot minimally until you can escape. This will help you retain your rep.

Same. BUT that still requires a bit of investment, not just faction balancing

At least there are pirates in the 5 towns that did not have them. Firelight, Morgan, Texan, Sars and Shanty.

If this is true, then yeah, if trucing goes back to the way it was then the trucing work-around just continues for the people that have been playing forever...rich get richer and all that jazz.

Removing this ability from Negotiator helps solve it.  I don't think the Reavers from Firefly would care how many points in Negotiator you have, for example.

to do that it only works somewhat regularly with my lv7 negfotiator 400 scout that took a long time to build up that skill, so instead of asking to have it nerfed why dont you work yer own guys up and do it yerself.

I can attest to that myself, training up a high scout is something a new player can even do. I traveled to every town in a Sunrise, on randomly picked tavern missions. And if unrealistically you get 2 points of scout per encounter, you would need 200 encounters. So that would be a portion you have to run away or fight. That has nothing to do with rich but alot more to time and grinding the game.

FL needs renegades regardless. Travelling to camps anywhere else I get renegades. It's true on rare occasion I can truce them but yes requires a massive negotiator.

However it does sound like the truce fix works fine. In game you run into a total prick(even in that same company as yours), just like in real life.

I am not sure the truce IS NOT working. I just truced from GW<>SS with 2 different squads. Were they a gang you have hunted/redded before? When I was Badlands Allied, I used to hunt Bantonville for s***s and giggles. Even when I was Admired by Civs, the Bantonville would not truce, as each gang in a faction has their own fame track and Bantonville HATED me.... took a couple game years to calm them down
