"So, how the team holding up Eugene?"

"Since you broke your wrist in your last deathrace? More Deathraces Beth. Just... Shoving us into more deathraces, trying to take our involvement in the current league very seriously."

"You act like it's a bad thing."

"I missed when we mostly kept to normal races. Sure we also did a death race every once and awhile back then, but that was more for fun. Now? Now this is getting serious. I almost thought you wern't gonna make it last race with how much pressure you were under Beth."

"All this time behind the wheel and you still haven't grown a pair, have you?"

"Don't mock me!"

"I'm just saying, you've already survived more races than most and yet you act like a scared little bitch. Gotta get over that #### man... Its not like those normal races were any more safer. Their car alone is the only weapon they need if they wanna snuff you out."

"... I'm just questioning if I made the right choice."

"Well there are for sure worse options than driving for Karbon. Could just be another gang slumming it out in the wastes outside Somerset and get picked off by raiders and dragged down to Firelight. If safety and a paycheck is what you're looking for then the tracks are the best you're gonna get."

"What are you looking for in racing?"

"Hmm?"

"Why do you race? What do you get out of this sport?"

"... Thrill I guess."

"Thrill... That's it? Second that wrist heals up, you're gonna be back on track purely for thrill."

"That's right."

"####ing hell..."

"And I suppose this is about all I'm good for anyway. If I die doing it then I'll know I at least fulfilled my purpose in life."

"Don't think theres any more to your life than driving some peice of metal around?"

'Just... Look around you Eugene. What else is there in this hellscape? I for one rather die in a smolder wreck than have my guts sucked out by whatever radioactive abomination is out there."

"We're just ####ed either way...'

"Mhmm... So whose this new girl Karbon signed on?"

"Eda? What about her?"

"Tell me about her."

"Well... She's good. A rare find that the boss is already taking a liking to. Put her in a league sanctioned drathrace and she came around this turn in last place just littered with puddles of flaming oil and safety navigated her car though and came out of that race in 4th place!"

"Not bad."

"She's... A bit abrasive to be around. And frankly I'm starting to get the idea that she can replace you."

"... That right?"

"Well you being laid out for your injury... Yeah perfect chance to do it. She hypes herself to but can back it up behind the wheel if given the seat."

"Might be what the team needs."

"Maybe... The boss has been putting me ahead of her though, think the boss is trying to use her strategically... Put me in more high risk races to get me killed while she gets easier gigs to build her image up... Bull####!"

"Such is business. Don't like it, go sign on with another Gang. Just remember what I said before about slumming it out in the wastes..."

"I know! I know...I just wish things were better."
