"Listen up you wasters! The HPDF has an employment opportunity for any of you lookin for a quick buck. Pouring over The Pole Dancers finances, he pours a shot of gasoline distilled whiskey and shoots it. They'd been inactive for awhile, but you never really quit the wastes. You just take vacations. Leon knew they'd been big into moving things around and hauling goods before. It was easy money because people either didn't like the danger or couldn't be bothered with the amount of time it could take to runaway from pursuers. But to come back and immediately start running the Lorries again? That was dangerous. Ever time you left, the wastes noticed. And you when you returned, it would get it's pound of flesh as punishment. Suddenly, The Honorable Grace Davis busts in, waving a flyer around frantically. She, too, was eager to get back to making money, and she'd stumbled upon the perfect way to do so. "Sir, look! An offer to haul muscle cars from Sarsfield to Gateway. This is right up our alley!" Leon grabbed the flyer, and looked it over. "The Heretic Division, hmmm? Don't remember them being around when we were active. Can they be trusted? And is the reward worth it?" Grace chuckled. "Does it matter? We haven't scouted in forever, and letting our equipment rot in the Badlands isn't doing anyone any good. Worse case scenario, we get to Sarsfield and buy a few of our own cars if the deal falls through. We'll still make money sir." "That's a good point! "Three of em sped up from behind but for some reason they weren't going balls out to get me. I felt a little exposed on that stretch and began to speed up. Then it hit me... Get off the road the little mutie on my shoulder screamed in my brain. No sooner did I dive toward the ditch then there they were... three more ahead of me. Shots rang at me as the Stormer dropped into the ravine. ####, got down at wrong line and almost came to a stop. Punch it! I could hear their engines. Rat-tat-tat, ping, ping, rat-tat-tat. They were all over me. Shots blew threw the thin side armor and i could see the smoke coming from the engine. I just needed a few more seconds, couldn't tell how many were on me and didn't dare look back to see. One mistake and i woulda been muted. Get it? Muted. Just get up the slope. But i had to turn and give a fresh side. Climbing, ping ping, ping, climbing, boom, i was on top. A hard left and the whole side they removed on Duke's right was now on the safe side. They musta lost their angle, cuz from that point on, just clear skies and clearer roads.
