Ralph Hawkeye Autrey raised his glass.

"To Splicer !".

"To Splicer !" them amassed gang replied in solemn tones.

"May his soul rest in peace !. Guys the drinks are on me for the rest of the night. " Autrey said and nodded over to Merzcal.

"That seems to have cheered them up a bit." muttered Elizabeth Shoemaker, Autrey's deputy.
"Well theyv'e earnt it, That was a nasty return we got there, if they hadn't have swarmed Gene's looted Apache.......well could have been a lot worse, you know that.
"I ain't never seen an apache fly like that, those 3 scorps really hit it hard." She paused thinking " Anyway we aint got a doctor now"
"Yeah there is some guy training up in Elms, Parish or something" replied Autrey
Elizabeth shot him a glance. "What? you got a replacement already ? Since when ?"
"Since Gene decided to dip into the takings, why do you think he has been driving the loot home for the last few weeks ? Hardly the best use of his skills was it ?"
"Ralph ! You gotta trust me with stuff like this, when were you gonna tell me ?"
"I told ya now aint i? Just make sure you never end up driving the loot" he winked at her.
"You just make sure the loot you have me driving don't have a working laser or you'll be sorry." She got up and went to the bar.
"Rest in Pieces Gene you theiving git" Ralph muttered to himself and drained his glass.
