I am commemorating this year with a tribute to my heritage by renaming my gang. Battalion de San Patricio (St. Patrick's Battalion) was a artillery unit that served with distinction in the Mexican army during the Mexican-American war (1847-1849). It is also where this familiar flag cam from (and assorted hand made variations of it)

Being raised in Arizona I never quite understood why the Mexicans celebrate St. Patricks with such vigor; now I know.
It also explains restaurants like Carlos O'Brien's B)

When I did the gang name change it didn't like the accent marks over Battalion so I'll have to correct that in a few months.....

Was an OK movie on it a few years back, starring Tom Berenger, called One Man's Hero.  (Only knew of it because a buddy of mine was an extra in it, he was in a mass hanging scene...)
