The Squadcar and Windsor moved slowly down the road out of Badlands Truckstop next to each other.

"Where we heading this time looking for a Camp ?" Lizzy Shoemaker shouted from the Windsor

"Scattered Hills maybe?" replied Alvin "Jim" Carey, he looked across at Glen, chief scout and driver of the squad car. Glen moved his head over to his "rearview tube". A special mod to the squad car allowing the driver to look out backwards from the roof mounted siren bar.

"Dust Trails ! " tapping the tube, he glanced across at the Windsor. Lizzy returned the look ....
"TANK !!! " she screamed, punching her driver in the arm "GO GO GO !"

Glen gunned the motor straight away, Jim slid into the control seat of the heavy laser,he knew Liz would be doing the same in the Windsor. Glancing to the side, he could see the nose of the landrunner clearing the sandbank and heading straight for them. 30 meters at most !

"Christ Glen your supposed to be the best scout ! How the hell did we get surrounded this close to BL ?! "
"Thats a really big dust cloud you know?"
"God damn !!! what about this sodding tank!!!"

Both the cars were surging forward, the more aerodynamic Squadcar edged in front. "Well if he doesnt blow us away soon, then you'll have a shot" Glen shouted back

As Jim looked out from the back of the squadcar, he had his laser at the extremeity of its travel, as soon as the landrunner bumped down on to the road behind them he would have a shot. Maybe the Windsor would get a Line of sight a second or 2 later.
A lick of flame erupted from the side of the Tank as its machine gun opened up. Jim ducked instinctively as he hear the bullets tear into the Squadcars armour.

"Come on you Son of a "ZZZAAAPPPP . He saw the Laser burn a big hole in the tanks side, a second later another appeared. The tank spun to face the enemy Seconds later it was over, flame licking out from the armoured windows of the Landrunner. The screams of thew occupents had been only brief.

"Phew that was close" sighed Jim...."2 chompers and a symph coming out the dust cloud" Glen tapped the tube again to emphasise the point.
"ok ok im on it"

The 2 cars slowed to steady the aim, as they steadly tore the oncomming pirates to ribbons, all the time Glen remain fixed to his tube.
As the last bursts of laserfire ripped into the last chomper, Jim turned to the front "Not gonna be much in the way of loot...we tore them up pretty good" he smiled "Hey Liz...good shooting.

"####!!!" he exlaimed as he was thrown violently back in his seat as for the second time the V8 was punched into full throttle!
"What the hell are you doing Glen!!!"
Glen tapped the tube as answer, and stared forward his face ashen
Jim turned and looked backwards from the accelerating car, his jaw dropped. "Oh #### we are f " The rest of the sentance was drowned out as a Tank Gun Shell flew overhead.
He watched the dust cloud dissipate as the Firetruck burst clear from it and hurtled toward them, "He is bloody flying!! He is gonna be on us soon. He must be doing 100! "

Heavy machine fire rattled off both cars armour as they sped up to 70 and approached the bend in the road before the pit. All four members preyed silently to themselves that the Firetruck didnt find their range with the huge tank gun.
Both cars slid the bend at full throttle, the huge bulk of the Firetruck catching them every second
"He can't take the corner at that speed!" Glen said, Jim didnt know wether Glen was stating it from obersvation, or pleading to the gods of physics.
The rear tyres of the suqad car scrabbled for grip on the dusty edges of the road, the windsor had cut the corner and was slightly a head of them, the rear of the car twitched, and then gave up spinning the vehicle , Glen fought with the steering wheel."

Now facing the oncoming truck they watched as it too struggled on the loose surface, flaming licking from its side as its weapons opened up on them again
Glen spun the wheels and headed for the hill on his right, he powered up the hill, bullets rattling of the armour, Jim firing out the back.
"YEAH! Shes gone over !!!" Jim yelled
Glen stopped the car and slumped in the seat, his shoulders slumped and sighed, "Well lets get down there and get that beast back to the garage."
He winked at Jim
"Told you i was the best scout"
