As usual, Ulysses Grant announced his entrance into the bar by slamming down a worn sheet of paper onto the table occupied by The Untouchables. The letter, which appeared to have been singed by a gunshot at some point on its journey, spoke of a rather outrageous proposition.

Equipe Jagwire warmly invites your gang to participate in the Equipe Jagwire Suicide League Invitationals. Races will be held Sunday night at 23:00 or so, and all races are in the Racing Tractor. Points will be scored with the standard league scoring, with the added bonus that finishing isn't necessary. Entrance fee is $100 per race, just to cover the cost of your driver's coffin should it be necessary.

The first race will be held on June 22nd, 23:00 EST (04:00 GMT), on the Somerset Junkyard Track 1. There will be four races total in Somerset, one in Elmsfield and one in Gateway, with each race announcement made one week in advance.

?I?m going back to Sommerset,? Ulysses said, crossing his dusty arms together.

Several of the other gang members had been sitting at the table enjoying a good joke at the expense of someone?s sister when Ulysses had made his entrance. Their first reaction as they read the flyer was continued laughter, starting small and quickly increasing. Even the cold-eyed gang leader Hunter Ford allowed a smile to crawl across his face.

When Ulysses didn?t join the laughter, though, the laughter died away quickly. ?You serious?? asked Paul Rivera, dancing a coin across his knuckles. ?You did see the part about your entrance fee paying for your coffin, right??

Ulysses leaned down on the table, particles of dust floating down into a few of the drinks. ?I?d rather die in front of a crowd of hundreds than end up a nameless corpse buried in some shallow ditch somewhere.?

Another young Untouchable, whose name nobody had bothered to learn yet, squeaked, ?Yeah, but they got the Elmsfield tracks here, if you want to go kill yourself in front of a crowd.? He tried to back up the statement with a derisive laugh, but the glare of Ulysses put his eyes down into his drink.
Ulysses snorted at him. ?It doesn?t take any skill to drive around in a circle and not go into the water. I got 2nd place in one race and suddenly I?m tenth place in the league. What kind of competition is that??

The rest of the gang seemed like they were going to all jump in at once, when Hunter leaned forward. His mere movement caused the others to pause. ?I think this is a good idea,? he said with a wide smile. ?I?ve got a lead on a camp outside of Sommerset where we can get some cheap supplies, and maybe get that new mechanic of ours some training.?

Ulysses snatched up the flyer from the table, and clomped noisily over to the bulletin board, slapping the paper over some notice about a rad frog hunt. ?Let?s get this party started!? the deathracer shouted to nobody in particular. ?And witness the spectacular death of Ulysses S. Grant!?
