Sagal Triumph Sunday Driver Civs Faction Group: Members Posts: 77 Joined: Nov 28, 2009     My name is Shane, I'm 40, married with 2 daughters, 11, and 4, live in Alexandria, Louisiana, and work as the Network Admin in a manufacturing plant.  I started writing my own games on a TI 99/4a computer when I was 15. I met a guy in the Air Force that showed me Car Wars and AutoDuel, and I was hooked.     I like sci-fi movies like Terminator, 2, 3, & 4, Matrix, 2, & 3, StarShip Troopers, 2, & 3, RoboCop, 2, & 3, and Resident Evil, 2, 3, & 4, Mad Max, 2, &3, and looking forward to watching The Book of Eli.     I have enjoyed playing StarCraft, & 2, Diablo, 2, & 3, X-Com, 2, & 3, Carmageddon, 2, & 3, Interstate 76 & 82, EQ, WoW, BattleField 1942, Vietnam, 2, 2142, & Bad Company 2.     When I found DarkWind, I loved the tactical turn based vehicular combat.  I find the environment limiting; I was hoping for a lil more sci-fi, but if Sam combined DarkWind with Syndicate Wars, I'd be divorced and unemployed, and playing 24/7.     I also used to drive a red '79 Triumph TR7 (Flash) convertible with a 3.5L Rover v8.  Man that thing was fast.  Nowadays, I drive a black '04 Ford F150 supercrew. I am married and have 2 boys (3 and 5) and a little girl in the oven (due April 13). I just got re-employed as a carpenter, and damn it is fun framing out in the cold. I was always into games from childhood on, but also stuck to sports. Had a scholarship to USC in high school, but lost it when I tore my patellar tendon (ugh). So needing to pay my own way at college, I ended up just going to a community college in Ca for 2 years. Took a break to "analyze my options", and never made it back. My gang name Renshai comes from a book series I liked, wherein a tribe of warriors called the Renshai trained at swordswork from the time they could carry a sword. They dismissed archery and shields as "cowards weapons". They would fight with their sword and that was it - to others' peril. Based on their belief, a warrior was banned from Valhalla if there was a part of the body missing. So the common tactic of the Renshai was to cut off whatever they could to demoralize their enemies corpses. Hated by all other tribes they were hunted like dogs and even saying the work Renshai would get you jailed. I am not as hated as my namesake _yet_ but I like the way the name sounds and hope someday to become as evil and widely hated as they. I have limited time to play, with my family, work, and all. I'm nineteen years old, and live near Atlanta, Georgia, United States. I was born and raised Southern and don't plan on leaving any time soon. I'm currently attending University full-time, majoring in Mathematics until I transfer to a tech school. I plan to get a degree in electrical engineering. I picked up tabletop games with friends a year or two ago, mostly D&D 3.5 and World of Darkness. I considered doing a campaign on the forums, but didn't know whether anyone would be interested. I started Darkwind a long, long time ago, but did not subscribe and my interest faded in and out once I amassed enough money to pay my characters in my absence. In real life, I drive a black 1997 BMW E37, 740iL. My old car was a 1992 Lexus LS, but it was rear-ended last fall. It had the premium Nakamichi audiophile sound system. Much of my time outside of school is spent pushing the limits on my audio setup in my desktop, which I built from scratch. My handle, Checkers, is a reference to Richard Nixon's 1952 Checkers speech. Axis of Weevils is a gang name Skidmark mentioned he wanted when I mentioned in passing that I was sick of my old gang name. I'm also a new student of Silat martial arts and I've been dabbling in writing articles on historical military small arms. I played Car Wars, LaserBurn and BattleTech as a kid. Nice to play something similar without the slow turns, dice rolls, and rule arguments. Rucker, AL. Originally from Michigan. My education is all Aviation. Former ATC. Joined Army, worked as ATC for several years until I got accepted into the WOC school here. Graduated WOC last September so I'm a Warrant now. Started Apache training in February. I live with Gary and Elli  just outside the base. I'm their most recent adoptee. They are really dedicated to helping Soldiers. Never played Car Wars. Gary showed me the game one day thought it might be fun. Bought Gary's 'old' computer and took over his account. My first go-round I lost 3 Buzzers, a Trash Truck and 4 Apaches because I got confused on escaping. One of them was famous. I'm getting the hang of the game. Lots of little rules I'm learning. I'm hooked on the big scout. Still can't make money but I think that takes more time than I have. don't know what will happen when I finish training probably get deployed to somwhere in the sand. Not too thrilled about that but it is what it is. Because I'm military I can't say what's on my mind. It's in my contract! Anyways having fun (even with loss of Buzzers).
