The first Roleplaying Mission (narrative-driven) is now live and available at Dexters. The way these will work is that only one person will be allowed to start it per every few days. So whoever hits Dexters next with 120 fame or higher will be first to see it.

I was the lucky one who got to take the mission. Very cool, I salute all involved.

Part 1: Not easy for me, cause I suck. But it was very fun knowing that there was more to it than 'winning'. I passed, thankfully.

Part 2: Wow... I had to put a lot of thought into how the heck I was going pull the task off. Sadly, I failed, but not for lack of trying. Apparently the guy who gave me the mission doesn't want to talk to me any more, even to say I suck...

Awesome work t0rp0r and sam, thanks for adding this concept.

This idea will add alot to darkwind, the narrative missions with tasks and quests are the cornerstone of all mmorp games.

well, i ended up putting one of my gangers in a coma trying to complete stage 2 but it was definitely fun running part 2 of that mission :)

this kind of stinks. Superficial realism shouldn't take priority over FUN FUN FUN ... but at the same time, it is how the other missions work. I guess I'm just chompin' at the bit to check out the new RP mission stuff.

I'd say some of them should be this way, and some of them should be otherwise.

Just like real life. If it make sense to be one person at a time, make it that way. If it makes sense that two or more different groups (or two or more people from the same group) could be recruiting for an RP mission at the same time, then have that happen.

Variety is the spice of life. Well, variety and oregano.

It's not exactly one-at-a-time, it's actually that each RP mission will only be startable every X days. (Where X is different for each mission).

Is there going to be some sort of block on the missions so a person can only take one at a time? That would allow them to be spread out a bit amongst people.

Seconded, if that is indeed how it works. If it just shows up for a time period sporadically, and then everyone can take it, that's fine, otherwise a few select people will just hog it like they do everything else in this game. This is a huge issue for normal missions and the market in general as it is, which is why I don't use either anymore.

Have you checked missions recently? Last time I looked, there were dozens of interesting missions (I think Sam tweaked it)

Just got it in SS, i'm pretty jazzed!

I remember somebody posted a link to a prototype system made to act out RP events in scouting encounters, where there were a bunch of options that the player could choose on what to say to a group of stranded people, and how to interact with them. is something like this going to be implemented too? Running into RP missions/interactions as a surprise encounter during a scouting session or in travel would be pretty cool.

Yeah GG, it was Valiance who proposed the other type of roleplay you mentioned.. I'd certainly like to implement that approach too.
